Guest guest
Just FYI- I have had a partial hysterectomy not total because the estrogen helps stave off the damage to your bones. I had a myomectomyin "91 to preserve my uterus but I shouldnt have bothered. Fibroids grew back anyway. I got RA in "94 and had my partial hyst surgery in 95. My uterus was about 12 weeks in size, and they had to take it out in two pieces. My left lower abdomen is a wreck. I have been in the worst kind of hell due to adhesions ever since. If they are going to go in and take out your ovaries or uterus, make sure its transvaginal. Your ovaries and their hormone production is to blame for RA flares along with the weather. I dont dare take them out since I am on prednisone and my bone density is bad. A good alternative that might help immensely, and only a really good gyn can do it, but have your blood estrogen level checked. Go on the birth control pill, as its a usual fix for heavy periods and also can regulate your hormone levels. It might take some tweaking, but the right pill can do wonders!! Lower your estrogen and I think you will find your problem helped considerably without surgery. I expect that one day the adhesions will strangle my intestines and I will have a life threatening obstruction. Its a fear I live with every day. I would tell everyone and anyone to avoid surgery unless its an emergency. Yours, Deborah

But when she finally checked my estrogen level, it was 10 times higher level than it should be. That's when she backed off on the hormones.
