Guest guest
I think an xray would help. I had a bone density recently only to discover I had degeneration in both hip and spine. Osteoporosis. This is from having RA and I am only 44. Is it against all odds that you could have arthritis in your hips? Osteo arthritis? Its certainly possible. Did the RD find your BURSA swollen? That is what bursitis is. An inflammation of the bursa in your joints. Dont be afraid to suggest you think both an xray, a new set of blood tests and a bone density are in order and dare I say it, possibly a second opinion. The hips are the joints that bear the most weight in our bodies. Think of what you did for work and if it was on your feet a lot or think wear and tear might be a factor from physical activity. If you feel like a steel rod has pierced one side of your hip bone to the other, you may have something more involved than Bursits. Yours, Deborah
Guest guest
I've had bursitis in one of my shoulders numerous times and nothing would clear it up but a shot. I didn't mind getting them. It was worth any discomfort to have it clear up. Ask your doctor to numb the area before he gives you the shot if you are concerned. Vera/Florida -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Guest guest
I found after a cortizone shot if I massaged the area every 30 minutes for the next 4 - 6 hours to stop the pooling I didn't get any of the pain people associate with cortizone shots, just the relief. I got this idea by thinking about what the doctor said, after the shot he got me to move the joint alot, he said to stop the pooling so I just continued on with massage every 30 minutes. Guest guest
Steriod injections into the bursa and NSAIDS to reduce the swelling. That is what I do. I have had numerous injections into my hip. This is the only thing that seems to work for me. Good luck Toni
Guest guest
Hi Debbie, I sometimes get bursitis in my Rt. shoulder and it is the most horrible pain. I don't think there is much you can do but suffer it out...However I find that to ice the area works a bit for me..... Saffeydog@... wrote: > > I am having a really bad bout of bursitis in my hip. Guest guest
I used to have Bursitis that would stop me in my tracks. One good thing about having RA, I started taking anti-inflammatories, and they stopped the Bursitis in it's tracks! It can be bad to trade one evil for another, but in this case, I think it was worth it. I don't know what to suggest for you. Dennis [ ] bursitis >I am having a really bad bout of bursitis in my hip. Guest guest
Debbie, My husband gets bursitis in his shoulder about every 6 months. He has to see an orthopedic specialist who injects him with cortisone. That works for him 100% of the time in taking away the pain. However, the doctor has now told him to consider surgery because it keeps happening. Hope you feel better!
