Guest guest
Are you taking folic acid along with the methotrexate? It's a must. Among other things, it reduces the fatigue. Your doctor may want to increase the folic acid dose--mine did, and I feel a lot better at 2 mg/day. Sierra > I just started on Methotrexate 3 weeks ago. Guest guest
When I first started taking MTX it didn't make me tired or sleepy, but it sure made me goofy. I took it on Sunday night because Monday was my " day off " . I didn't cook on Mondays because I would forget things on the stove and burn them. I didn't drive either. I told my riding students not to call me on Mondays because I would most likely forget what they told me. This lasted about three months. Now I have no side effects at all from the methotrexate. It never upset my stomach either. Sharon > > > I just started on Methotrexate 3 weeks ago. Guest guest
I started off with 4 MTX pills a week years ago, it didn't bother me.. I have been rebuilding and repainting all our wings and repainting our poles for the last week. Last year my 4H students in Flagstaff took Champion and Reserve Champion in both Junior and Senior divisions at the county fair finals horse show. I was so proud of them. They all took ribbons at the State Fair, too. I have been working with most of them since they first started riding. It is such a joy to watch them develop. I am also training my young draft cross to jump. I can only ride for about half an hour at a time because it gets to my knees, but he is coming along nicely. He is belgian/tb cross and 17.1 hh. with the draft horse work ethic. A really sweet boy who loves to jump. Sharon

Guest guest
The only dogs I know of who do not shed much are poodles and bichons, but they both need professional grooming regularly to maintain their coat, unless you are very dedicated and skilful. However, shedding potential should not be something you use as a basis to choose a pet. *All* dogs shed; if dog hair really is a concern, then perhaps a dog is not the pet you want. You should want a dog badly enough to be able to handle the shedding without it being a problem. Looking for a dog who does not shed because you can't stand dog hair is like trying to adopt a child who does not cry because whiney children make you crazy. It's going to happen; hopefully, you want and will love a dog enough to overcome that. ----- Original Message ----- From: Maggie Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wednesday, August 03, 2005 2:02 PM Subject: Re: question about Methotrexate side effects?? Guest guest
Yes, those work well. I have a bichon who goes to the groomer, except that she's now 17 and won't be going much longer, and the rest are Chihuahuas. Brushing takes care of them. I had an Am. Eskimo for 15 years and she shed terribly. I took her to the groomer every six weeks to have her undercoat blown out, but even if I hadn't been able to do that, she would have been part of my family and I would have handled it. ----- Original Message ----- From: Maggie Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wednesday, August 03, 2005 2:15 PM Subject: Re: question about Methotrexate side effects?? Guest guest
I have 2 beagles and thought that short haired dogs didn't shed - you are so right - they shed a lot! I'm constantly sweeping or vacumming the area they live in in my home - I have them quarantined off in my little family room - so I don't have so much to clean up - as I just can't keep up with it all anymore. But they are worth it! We should attach pics of our little ones Oh that's right, this is suppose to be about R.A. - But we can have some fun too can't we? I have a pic of my little Angel stuffed in a Xmas stocking and hung her on the wall! 2 weeks later she could barely fit Nina <ncampbell@...> wrote: ----- Original Message ----- From: Marcia Stoyle > hey, Lynette! does Molly shed much? my hubby and I are planning to adopt either a pug or a Boston = I'm partial to Boston's as my grandmother had one 60 years ago!! we have been told that the pugs shed continuosly.....thanks! gentle hugs! Guest guest
Yep, they shed. Some of the smoothcoats have what's called a double coat(I have one) and she sheds more than any other dog I've ever had. I can pull out huge handfuls of hair in the spring, but she sheds year around. The longcoats don't shed as much as the smoothcoats do. ----- Original Message ----- From: sunshine Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wednesday, August 03, 2005 4:13 PM Subject: Re: question about Methotrexate side effects?? Guest guest
THere are some books available(I don't know the titles) that rate dogs according to shedding, personality traits, activity, etc. That would be a good place to start. I picked one up in a bookstore one time and leafed through it -- it looked pretty good. It was something about matching a dog to you, or finding the dog for you. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marcia Stoyle Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wednesday, August 03, 2005 7:02 PM Subject: Re: question about Methotrexate side effects?? you misunderstand...we had a boxer for 12 years and have two cats now. we miss our dog, and want another, but are searching for a smaller breed=hair shedding was just a general question.....Marcia in Western New York Hasenstab <saludo@...> wrote: The only dogs I know of who do not shed much are poodles and bichons, but they both need professional grooming regularly to maintain their coat, unless you are very dedicated and skilful.
