Guest guest
It took us 3 months to get our appointment after submitting the paperwork. My doctor ordered the lab work...we just explained to him we were seeing Dr G and why and he was willing to order it up. In order to do the food allergy testing, call Dr G's office and request a testing kit for this. > I have a question about getting an appointment with Dr. Goldberg. > How long after you have submitted the paperwork does it take to get > the actual appointment? > > Any tips on getting my dr. to do the bloodwork? When I asked about > testing for food allergies he said he would send me to a nutritionist. > Is that even necessary? > > > Thanks! > > Elayna
Guest guest
Hi, I am new here and have been looking through the posts and learning a lot. My dr. thinks i might have RA. The blood test shows an RA factor of 37 and I have pain in my hands and one foot. The xrays came back neg. and my Dr. wants me to see a rheumatologist. If the xrays are negative might I stil have it? Thank you for any guidance.
Guest guest
Hi, Sorry for the late reply. When I 1st developed arthritis symptoms (before anyone knew what it was) I took X-rays and they were fine. When I was dx'd 3 months later, the rheumy ordered a bone density scan, which showed erosion from arthritis. I could be wrong, but few people test positive for the rheumatoid factor without having arthritis. To make things more confusing, you can be negative for the rheumatoid factor and still have arthritis (like me). Take care & welcome to our group. Guest guest
My first symptoms were hands and feet. Really sore bottom of the feet in the morning. Hands - some swelling on top of the back of my hand and I never knew which fingers would be sore. I used to use ace bandages to immobilise my wrists at night. Do any of you get aches in your fingers that vary from finger to finger throughout the day? I have not been formally diagnosed yet with RA, but my dr. thinks it is pretty possible that I have it. Sometimes I get pain in the top of my hands, then in my wrist, then in various finger joints. Also, is there a correlation between thyroid problems and RA? I had Grave's Diseases, then it turned into being hypothyroid. Thank you! I have been learning a lot by reading all of your posts.
Guest guest
Lori, I'm from the Pittsburgh area. My GP started me on Mobic at my first appointment because the swelling in my hands and feet was pretty evident, plus the pain in my wrists was almost unbearable. It seems to have helped a little. I only began experiencing symptoms about 4 weeks ago. My family has so many auto immune diseases, I was not going to wait to feel worse. I'm not as young as you (38) but still 29 at heart:) Hopefully I can get some answers, feel better, and get on with my busy life! Guest guest
Hi Dianne! I'm in the same boat as you. My doctor (rheumatologist) diagnosed me with sero negative RA, which is RA with normal bloodwork. He believes that I am catching this right at the start. He is sending me for a second opinion on the diagnosis before starting me on some of the meds that have the really serious side effects because I am young (29). I'm from Dallas, PA - where are you from? Lori [ ] New with question Does anyone know if it is possible to have RA yet have a normal Sed Rate and a - RH factor? I have all of the symptoms of RA and my ANA was 1:320. I will be bringing all of my test results and x-rays to my first Rheumatology appointment on Friday and had prepared myself for a diagnosis of RA but now I'm wondering. Guest guest
Thank you for pointing this out. A lot of Drs. feel that way. No serum positive, no RA. Everyone should be more aware that there is a serum neg. RA. Tami Tami -Dossey
Guest guest
Hi Dianne: I'm new to this group and this diagnosis, which my doctor made a week ago. Like you, my blood work came back normal. From what she told me, there is a diagnostic criteria to RA and the RA factor doesn't come back for many early on in the disease. She was able to prod around knuckles in my hands that had swelled dramatically within weeks (to the point that I couldnt' wear my wedding ring); feel the swelling in both wrists, knees and ankles. I had reported morning stiffness of up to 3 hours and my husband reported that my wrists often feel " hot " . I've treated with this rheumatologist for over two years for FMS and more recently mild carpal tunnel in both hands that they though might have aggravated my FMS. She is now thinking that the pain that has flared up again is really RA. I'm on Prednisone for two weeks and then return for follow-up. I'll let you know how I make out.
