Guest guest
Hello everyone, It is time another one of my " oh my God " the sky is falling " informative " emails. Please bear with me, the information here could literally save your life. There are THREE topics for major concern; You may not be aware that Lyme and it's co-infections are affecting your life yet, but I believe everyone is being or will be affected by these infectious diseases sooner or later. Maybe yourself, a loved one, a neighbor... MS, lupus, Epstein Barr, child onset leukemia, ulcers, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue syndrome have been recognized as infectious diseases and are being treated with antibiotics. ( the list grows..) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month. Support a Lymie, wear a lime-green ribbon. 1. This note is from members of a lyme activists group I participate in. I send this your way only as information. The struggle for our doctors is no where near over. Anyway, if you have a buck to send to this doc, (who I have met and seen lecture, he is really a special man) please do. If you don't, do not get the guilts. Dr. Horowitz Legal Defense Fund As many of you who have been involved in our recent letter writing campaign to the NYS legislature are aware, DR. Horowitz is one of the doctors who has been and is still being harassed by the New York State OPMC. He has spent two years being investigated by the OPMC and has recently been charged and is awaiting a hearing. During this period he has required the services of an attorney for which he has had to pay for from his own resources since his insurance does not cover this situation. As a result, Dr. Horowitz is in need of a Legal Defense Fund. It is essential that we help him win his case. He is an excellent LLMD and we cannot afford to lose him. Dr. Horowitz is our own LLMD and we have enormous respect for and gratitude toward him. Many of you who have not been treated by him may have benefited from his commitment to helping Lyme patients. He was one of the first to look into the potential impact of coinfections on the treatment of Lyme patients. He has the commitment, caring and intelligence that we should expect from physicians but rarely see. It is precisely this commitment to treat patients rather than salute an archaic treatment protocol that has brought him to this predicament. In addition, it is essential that we support those LLMD's that have been willing to stick with us. If Dr. Horowitz goes down, then the door is open for all the others to be harassed out of practice. We will have no one to treat us. Please send a contribution to: Dr. Horowitz Hudson Valley Healing Arts Center 4232 Albany Post Road Hyde Park, NY 12538 Make checks payable to Horowitz, MD, with a notation on the check 'Legal Defense Fund' Ellen and Jill <<< May is Lyme Disease Awareness Month. You will be inundated with messages from Kline Beecham and the ALDF to take the Lymrix vaccine. 30% of the initial trial participants have a class action suit against SKB for auto-immune disease cause from the vaccine. DO NOT HAVE THIS VACCINE! This link takes you to an audio that was on WBUR our local NPR station in which the lawyer and a very famous researcher/ clinician/ teacher who specializes in lyme disease speak out about the vaccine. >>>FridayMay 5th, 2000 http://www.wbur.org/hereandnow/archive/2000/05/hn_archive_0505.shtml Lyme Disease It's tick season in New England and health officials predict the parasites will be out in abundance this year. Most ticks are fairly harmless, but deer ticks, smaller and harder to detect then other tick species, can spread Lyme Disease which causes fever, aches, joint pain and other more serious symptoms. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says the incidence of Lyme Disease climbed by 70% between 1992 and 1998 mostly in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and other Northeastern states. Last year a new vaccine for Lyme Disease, " Limerix, " was made available to the public. But questions about its safety and effectiveness continue to surface. Recently, two lawyers filed a class-action lawsuit against Klein Beecham, the maker of the vaccine, claiming that it can cause symptoms worse than the disease itself. We speak to one of the attorneys who filed the lawsuit, Sheller of Sheller, Ludwig and Badey in Philadelphia. We also speak to Dr. Sam Donta, Director of the Lyme Disease Unit with the Boston University School of Medicine. Mr. Scheller raises some serious concerns about the Lyme vaccine. There is again a push in the political arena to stop overuse of antibiotics in patients. This is a great idea, however, I think it is MUCH more important to stop the abuses of antibiotics in our food chain. Our watersheds are polluted with antibiotics that have run off from animal waste on farms feeding animals large doses of the medications as a preventative, as a way to keep the animals from getting infection, rather than as a remedy for acquired infection. These antibiotics are also consumed when we eat these animal products (meat, milk, eggs, cheese, etc.) allowing terrific opportunity for the bacterium to mutate from species to species and to build resistance to antibiotics. Mad cow disease is caused from feeding cows sheep remains, (don't ask me why this was considered, cows like grass... I have never seen a cow hunting a sheep, or any other mobile food source...) allowing scrapie (a bacteria found on the skin and in sheep) to enter the intestines of cows (allowing cross species mutation) where it meets with antibiotics which may or may not be effective in killing it (allowing it to become antibiotic resistant) and then fed to people who may or may not be able to be treated effectively because they have consumed a now mutated, antibiotic resistant bacteria, and can die or be permanently mentally disabled. http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/madcow/resources.html http://falcon.cc.ukans.edu/%7Ejbrown/madcow.html http://muextension.missouri.edu/xplor/agguides/ansci/g02075.htm http://www.madcowboy.com/excerpt.htm http://www.theatlantic.com/issues/99feb/germs.htm Please spend some time with this info.
