Guest guest
Hi all.... I am on Humira and took it for awhile without any problems, except a little pinkness at the injection site. But I am on it again and I have gotten a very bad allergic reaction to it. Redness (like I hit a vein)..soreness, burning (such as you get when it is injected). I called my rheumy and told him how bad it was (this was after my 2nd injection reaction) and he told me to use Benadryl before injecting. So, I was scared to try it again since it can get very painful but the nurse assured me it has happened before and the benadryl really helps..so i did my 3rd injection since the reactions. It reacted again the same way...except maybe not as bad as the last 2 I did but painful just the same. I have a call into him now to see what else i can take. My ? is: Has anyone else had this reaction to Humira? Also: I have a feeling he would like me to try Remicade next. Anyone on this and how is it working for you? I was taking Enbrel which worked great for me but ended up with mouth sores and had to switch back to Humira. Thanks everyone! paula

Guest guest
Hi there, I am also on Humira. I only just started it. So far i have had very little side effects and a bruise at the injection site only the first two times. My joints seem better but my fatigue is coming back. I was on Remicade for 12 months before I started Humira and it never really worked for me. By the time I decided to stop taking it, I was flaring every 2-3 weeks. My fatigue was much better though. These drugs are a real challenge - what works for one doesnt work for another. Hang in there. Guest guest
Well 10 days after my shot of either placebo or Humira...I have no pain or stiffness in the hands since the day after the shot. Yesterday I put it to the test and went outside to work in the yard. Pulled weeds and trimmed plants til the heat got to me...but got the job done finally!! I figured that this morning I'd wake up with stiffness and pain the day after as usual...but there was no pain or stiffness. Just one little knawing ache on the side of my hand...so I'm figuring that it was Humira. Next shot is due Tuesday and it will be humira for sure. I'm still a little more tired than I used to be, but have more energy to get things done. If this is what it's like, it's worth the shots even if I am a chicken. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maggie http://www.4HockeyFans.com http://www.4FloridaHockey.com MSN: Maggies1429 AOL: Maggies85
Guest guest
I'm glad they are working for you Maggie. The downside of course is all these drugs seem to only work for a time so I do recommend to everyone that they investigate a more healthy lifestyle even when using the medication. For the long term I'm sure it would pay off.
