At first I got them in each knee once a year then we went to every six months. I want to put off the replacement as long as I can as i am only 55. When I get the injections it takes 3 to 4 weeks to really work but the time I have without intense pain is fantastic. I did things I had not done for years. They do not work so great for all people but at least it is safer than surgury and a great tempory fix. Guest guest
I think as far as the swelling goes, ice would be your best treatment. Elevating your leg so it is higher than your heart also works well. The combination of the two is also recommended. Did you notify your dr of the swelling? ~prathiba n <pr_athiba@...> wrote: Hi All, I'm prathba, 25 yrs old. They don't help me as much as Kenalog, but they do help. Like any cortisone, they have their long term side effects. Nina
Guest guest
Hi, I've had many depo medrol shots (hands, rear, knee, ankle, shoulder, fingers, rear) ....I didn't have any side effects. Depo medrol seems to work faster on me than kenalog. My husband on the other hand felt foggy in the head for a couple weeks after his shot in the shoulder. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Maggie http://www.4HockeyFans.com http://www.4FloridaHockey.com MSN: Maggies1429 AOL: Maggies85 prathiba n wrote: > Thanks alot shelly for you response. Guest guest
I've had them in my hip joint and shoulder joint, and they still work all over your body, but it just concentrates it in that area at first. ----- Original Message ----- From: Nina Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Tuesday, July 05, 2005 9:35 AM Subject: Re: Plz suggest ----- Original Message ----- From: Maggie > Hi, I've had many depo medrol shots (hands, rear, knee, ankle, shoulder, fingers, rear) ....I didn't have any side effects. Guest guest
Hi, I am new to this board, but not new to RA and the treatments. I have the same issue, and I've had my knee drained at least 20 times over the last 10 years. I have found that it really helps if the doctor uses a "chilling spray"either WHILE they perform the "aspiration" or just prior. I've never had any infection issues AFTER having this procedure. Good luck, and all the best to you. (Does anyone know what the "chilling spray" is called?) prathiba n <pr_athiba@...> wrote: Hi All, I have swelling in my Knee and took setroids twice, but the swelling is not reduced. My doctor suggested me to inject the fluid from my knee. But some say it will have some infections if you go for this method.... Please suggest. Guest guest
Aspiration is the method of choice, but make sure to be put on antibiotic prior to that so you are ahead of the game via infection. They can also wash out the knee joint with saline solution to clear it, or inject it with steriod. Yours, Deborah
Guest guest
And you should have the knee fluid analyzed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
