downside of prednisone dose

Three weeks ago I was given a six day series of steroids to knock down

a flare. On the third day of the series, I fell and sprained my

ankle. The next day it was much better, and in a couple of days it

didn't hurt at all. Last week, however, the steroids wore off and the

ankle puffed up and hurt like the devil. Apparently I REALLY sprained

it! The steroids suppressed the inflamation and pain and I walked

around on it for two weeks, which didn't do it a bit of good! If it

isn't better by Monday, I am going to have to go to the doctor. It

never occured to me that the steroids might be suppressing the pain and

swelling. I just thought that I hadn't sprained it badly.

So if you hurt yourself while taking prednisone, don't be fooled if it

doesn't hurt...get it checked anyway.
