Guest guest
Hmmm, never thought about taking a pneumonia vaccine. My husband and I both got flu shots last season and we still both got the flu, although I suppose it would have been a lot worse if we hadn't been vaccinated. The one vaccination that I would definitely take as I have heard it is up and coming is for shingles. I have heard that pain is horrendous. I'm not taking either so I should get a good immune response. I know prednisone can keep you from getting a good response with any vaccination. > > Nina > Study results showed that immune response to the vaccine was highest in patients on TNF-blockers without methotrexate, intermediate in patients on TNF-blockers combined with methotrexate and lowest in patients on methotrexate alone. > > " The essence of the current study is that rheumatoid arthritis patients treated with TNF-blocker can be safely vaccinated against pneumococcal infections under the same premises as patients with other diseases, while methotrexate- treated rheumatoid arthritis patients should be vaccinated preferably before initiation of this treatment, " said Pierre Geborek, MD, PhD, Department of Rheumatology, Lund University Hospital, Lund, Sweden, and an investigator in the study. Guest guest
I've had shingles twice now, and it hasn't been too painful. It was a mild case, and I started the meds the same day that it broke out, but it was what I would describe as uncomfortable rather than painful. ----- Original Message ----- From: Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Saturday, August 27, 2005 12:18 AM Subject: Re: PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINATIONS PROVE ACCEPTABLE FOR PATIENTS WITH RHEUMATOID ARTH Hmmm, never thought about taking a pneumonia vaccine. I have a flu shot every year and a pneumonia vaccine every ten years. Nina
