Guest guest
Hi, thanks for your reply I had talked to my dr. a few times about this. Both times she gave me the green flag but it just never seemed like the right time and my husband and I are just finally to that point where we are ready again, I'm not due to see her again until Jan and I hate to make a special apt most likely for nothing before then. I'm hoping to concieve in Dec. Nothing has really changed with my RA since last year so I think she'd still be fine with it. I wasn't told any # of kids or limit per say, my dr actually told me she had a lade who had 9 kids and she finally told her " ya know, you can't just keep having kids to stay in " remission " LOL My Rheumy & OB had both said it was fine last year, it's me pesronally that worries Thanks again > Hi, > First of all, have you talked to your rheumy? Guest guest
Thanks ! I think both of my medicines are category C, I know both my rheumy and my ob had said I'd need to stop them as soon as I began to try to conceive, although they differed on which was more harmful, the plaquenil or the mobic lol. I know alot of women with lupus actually stay on the plaquenil during pregnancy but I was told that i would go off because of the level of my health, basically the risk isn't worth the need. I also take Nexium & Allegra, plan to stay on those right up until I try to conceive and then will have to check on what to do about those. Thanks again and good luck to you > > Hi, Just curious of everyone's opinion on becoming pregnant now that > > I have been diagnosed with RA. > > > > I was diagnosed in June 04, and had planned to get pregnant last > > winter but decided not to until I could figure out my condition a > > little more...it's almost a year later and I think I've decided that > > yes, I'd like to have one more child, I currently have 2 (8 & 5). > > Also, I'm now 30 and feel that I really don't want to wait much > > longer as my two are getting older, and I plan to be somewhat > > disabled *smile* later in life and don't need to be someone getting > > pregnant much older than I already am. > > > > I know I've heard that in most cases the RA actually improves during > > pregnancy but usually kicks you in the rear immediately after > > delivery. Guest guest
I haven't read any of the replies yet, but what my doc told me is that I can take prednisone throughout attempted conception, pregnancy, etc. I think she said same with Azulfidine. I think I might have to stop taking that one before birth, can't remember? I have been on Plaquinil for a couple of years or so, but recently stopped it since you can't take that with pregnancy. I'm 37 and have no kids, have never been pregnant. Just stopped birth control. Kinda scared. wendy from birmingham, AL --- In Rheumatoid Arthritis , " bart.tracy@s... Guest guest
Hi , Wow, we are in the same boat! I just went off birth control and am starting to try and I am almost 36; this would be my first too, and probably last! I have made the decision to stay on Humira for my RA and Asacol for my Ulcerative Colitis. The maternal-fetal medicine specialist says that going off these drugs could result in a flare and that could result in miscarriage or early labor. I kept waiting in hopes I would get completely better but that never happened. Of course I am scared that I will be too sick to take care of the baby, but I have faith that if my husband and I will be good parents, God will give us a child and the energy to take care of it! Good luck, ! > > Hi, Just curious of everyone's opinion on becoming pregnant now that > > I have been diagnosed with RA. Guest guest
I think whatever you want is what you should go for, if it's not meant to be then you won't concieve. BUT, what I would be very cautious with is ensuring that you are eating extremely well and taking extra nutritients throughout the pregnancy and during breast feeding because chances are you are lacking something and that's why your immune system has weakened and allowed the RA to take hold. DON'T just take the cheap prenatal vitamins and think you are doing yourself any good, they don't cover all your needs, remember you get what you pay for. If you are unsure of which vitamins to take I can recommend some for you.........of course one brand I see but if you find that offensive I would be happy to recommend others that I consider also very good. Personally I had minimal results for a long time taking vitamins, then I learned about quality and how to evaluate them. Guest guest
Thanks susan. I'd be happy to hear what vitamins you'd suggest. During pregnancy and also just in general. Other than just the nromal otc kind I'm not very knowledgable in that area. I've always kind of been the kind of person that felt " natural " and " herbal " ect ect was just blah blah blah but lately, especially today (will address in a different post) makes me eager to find a natural relief. Thanks > >> > > Hi, Just curious of everyone's opinion on becoming pregnant > > now that > >> > > I have been diagnosed with RA. > >> > > > >> > > I was diagnosed in June 04, and had planned to get pregnant > > last > >> > > winter but decided not to until I could figure out my > > condition a > >> > > little more...it's almost a year later and I think I've > > decided that > >> > > yes, I'd like to have one more child, I currently have 2 (8 & > > 5). > >> > > Also, I'm now 30 and feel that I really don't want to wait > > much > >> > > longer as my two are getting older, and I plan to be somewhat > >> > > disabled *smile* later in life and don't need to be someone > > getting > >> > > pregnant much older than I already am. > >> > > > >> > > I know I've heard that in most cases the RA actually improves > > during > >> > > pregnancy but usually kicks you in the rear immediately after > >> > > delivery. Guest guest
I have an aversion to taking pills (maybe from all the meds I had to take when I first was diagnosed with RA) so I love the Limu Plus that I'm taking, it's a juice, natural and complete. If you don't mind taking pill form then Vitamark also makes a quality one a day that is manufactured to the highest quality standards, complete with digestive enzymes. USANA Nutritionals is also a very good product, manufactured to the highest quality standards, but I would suggest if you take their " Essentials " (basic multi vitamin/mineral) you also take digestive enzymes and essential fatty acids. Malalueca has good products. Quality manufacturer. Manatech has quality products but a bit of a bother to take sometimes. All of the above are safe during pregnancy but it's still good to review with your doctor anything that you take specially during pregnancy if for no other reason than to keep the lines of communication open.
