Yes, I also have sinus infections/nosebleeds (or is it

my sinuses bleeding?) and was using enbrel. I've been

battling with this, and with drs., since last

December, when the issue started. Of course I was

told it was the dry winter weather, and knew that

wasn't right, so kept calling and complaining.

Finally, a coworker who also takes enbrel was

diagnosed with a sinus infection and THEN my drs said,

oh, maybe it's a sinus infection when I told them

that.

Went through about 3 treatments with antibiotics. 2

x-rays later still show inflammation. Quit my enbrel

last May & began waiting to see an ENT, still haven't

started it again.

Saw an ENT this past week. He said no surgery because

I'm asymptomatic, to which I said that's great to hear

because I wasn't going to agree to having it anyway,

all I wanted to know is can I go back on my meds?

He basically said yes, and if the bleeding starts

again to come back.

I'm not happy, can you tell? I mean really, it's

October! It's almost been a full year! I do NOT want

to be the one-in-a-million person that gets the

infection that spreads system-wide before anyone finds

out, & then have it be too late.

I've decided I want to wait with the meds, as long as

I can stand things, and will share this info with my

rheumy this week.

Hi All,

I have definitely noticed an increase in Sinus

problems and infections

since I

have been on Enbrel or Humira. My Primary doc thinks

its allergy

related but I

think I am now prone to them. What is everyone else's

experience?

I knew this would happen. I blew by this discussion thinking this

wouldn't happen to me. I've never gotten a sinus infection before. Well

guess what? I'm on Enbrel and I've got the symptoms of a sinus

infection and I'm really uncomfortable. My nose pours unexpectedly it's

embarassing (sorry to be graphic.... and the pressure hurts. I skipped

an injection due to a sore throat and some congestion and thought I was

better and took the next injection and boom.... yuck.

Ever have that feeling the moment you do something- like push the

delete button- that something will not happen to you but know that it

will? I knew it. I'm also on MTX and prednisone.

Interesting.

Abby

I just started Enbrel 3 weeks ago and I now have a sore throat and the beginnings of a cold. Should I call my rheumy and let him know? I don't want to stop the Enbrel because it has helped with about 80 percent of the pain.

I started using Zicam today. It is the first day of my sore throat. Hope it helps. Thanks for letting us know about Zicam.

Advice?

Vicki

Vicki- drink lots of fluids, stay warm and rest. I took Zicam and while I did have a cold it didnt evolve into a bad congested infected one. Nose just ran and ran, which was great and I had one day of slightly colored mucous. Thats it. Day three was the worst, but all up hill from there. Remember every four hours. Chicken soup broth, as much as you can stand. It really does work. Yours, Deborah

Call your rheumatologist. You don't want this to develop into pneumonia. God bless.

I worry and call my rheumy if I run a fever, or if the nasal discharge is yucky yellowish. (sorry to be graphic) gentle hugs! Marcia (on enbrel 3 years) Vicki <hoyt91@...> wrote:

I would call. I was told to call with any infections as these meds lower your immunity.
