Hi,

I posted about taking 600 mg of ALA daily and have received a couple of emails about the dangers of mercury chelation at such a high dose. I did not mention that ALA IS a potent chelator and could pose problems for some with mercury amalgams in my first post.

I did not post this as I did not want to confuse folks about this issue. However, there are a few Cutler, Yasko folks on this forum as well, so I should clarify a few points as this is a pretty controversial issue.

I did have all of my mercury amalgam's removed at the beginning of using 600 of ALA, more due to my mthfr genetic defect than to the ALA. I also take Chelaco, OSR, Chlorella and IP-6 to aid in the chelation and mercury, metal detoxification.

Interestingly, I saw Dr. Berkson (ALA guru) earlier this year and he actually upped my ALA dose to 900 mg daily. I also received a few IV ALA treatments while I was at his clinic. I questioned him about the mercury chelation effect and he said that he has never had any problems with it. Also, in my Hep C support groups, most folks do take ALA and not too many of them have had their amalgam's removed and no one has reported any problems.

As I said, I do not want to confuse anyone about this issue but I felt compelled to mention the chelation effect. Sorry that I did not mention it on my first post about my experience with ALA.

ALA sounds like a nice partner for LDN and I don't know of any side effects? If anyone has any similar problems eliminated from the combination, would love to hear. If anyone knows of any side effects I might encounter, would like to hear about that as well. Thanks, A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!
