My girlfriend has both RA and Lupus. They never would have known she has lupus but for the severe red swollen areas that were exposed to the sun. You have a sun allergy and lupus like reaction to the sun. I would call your dr and tell him about this right away. He may want to test you for lupus. Its very important that you wear Sun Screen, a hat and gloves when you gardening, as well as a long sleeve shirt of somekind. I have been on prednisone and MTX along with plaquenil and other meds that say to avoid the sun. I rarely go out into it at all, but I feel uncomfortable and dizzy when I get overheated or stay out in it intentionally. I do not however get redness and swelling ever. This is a warning sign. So very smart of you to realize these signs and tell someone right away. You are listening to your body. Good for you.......Kudos. Yours, Deborah
