Guest guest
I would say up your yeast protocol or add to it? Increase probiotics and make sure you are doing all the supplements that are recommended while supplementing? Are you doing no phenol digestive enzymes too? 1 mg ala? We use ALA from Kirkman Labs, they hypoallergenic ones. No issues for my nt food allergy guy either. So is their a filler they are using that is giving your son grieve? Would ask how it is compounded. You didn't say the weight on your son? But I just did my second round on my nt son and divided the 25 mg ala three ways. He did fine. Sorry, hope things get better. So put him in the tub with some Epson salt and see if he'll drink a little lemon and honey hot water drink with you. Something special? Tammy [ ] ALA Reaction - please help Hi everyone, Well, I was the one attempting to give advice to folks a couple weeks ago about ALA, and here I am in desperate need of some guidance. My son is very sensitive to phenols so is on a very restrictive diet, multiple supplements, and we have done 30 rounds of DMSA (up to 25mg now). We tried ALA several months ago (5mg) and he went into a regression, but I believe it was actually a strep infection. Either way I decided to use DMSA only for a few more months before we tried again. Well, this past weekend we reached that point and we did DMSA 25mg/ALA 5mg every three hours -- I stopped the ALA after 2 days b/c of hyper behaviors and red cheeks, but continued on with DMSA only for the 3rd day. I guess he was OK in school on Monday b/c I didn't hear anything, but yesterday he was pushing kids and spit in a little girls eye. Last night he was kind of OK, but this morning he is completely out of control. I'm actually debating on keeping him home from school b/c it's so bad. I ordered 1mg capsules of ALA to use this weekend, but the reaction is so severe I'm thinking I'll hold off until his winter break in February and is out of school. In the meantime I'm trying to get us through this.... Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? It's just so frustrating b/c I want him to be able to move forward with the ALA b/c I know that's the only thing that's going to finally help heal his sulfation/phenol issues. Thanks so much! Guest guest
I appreciate your thoughts, Tammy. My son is already on diflucan and I also give him biotin. He takes about 225 billion CTU (or whatever the measurement is) of probiotics daily -- I could increase it a little more though. He's on several other vitamins, minerals, enzymes, CLO, etc, which I have continued. He takes trenza, which has no=phenol in it. I have bough the np-phenol, but haven't tried it with hi m. We tried it a year or so ago and had a bad reaction so I've been reluctant. He seems to be doing fine though with the broad spectrum enzyme though, like trienza.  We got the 5mg capsules compunded at Wellness Pharmacy. They always compound our medications so they know not to put extra fillers, etc. My son is 5 years old and 42 lbs. At this point, I need to go much lower or stop all together for a while.  Thanks again for your suggestions! Guest guest
Our dr. calls in an Rx to Wellness Pharmacy and we have it compunded there. It's much more expensive, but the best option for us at this point.
Guest guest
Is your child on molybdenum? This stopped my son's phenol reactions. > > > > Hi everyone, > > > > Well, I was the one attempting to give advice to folks a couple weeks ago about ALA, and here I am in desperate need of some guidance. > > > > My son is very sensitive to phenols so is on a very restrictive diet, multiple supplements, and we have done 30 rounds of DMSA (up to 25mg now). Guest guest
Yes, right now about 600mg per day. How much did your child take? Thanks! Guest guest
he's also on 600 mcgs a day. Perhaps you should increase? I think Andy recommends up to 1000 mcgs a day. > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > >  > > > Well, I was the one attempting to give advice to folks a couple weeks ago about ALA, and here I am in desperate need of some guidance. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
There are no 1mg caps of ala. The lowest I have seen is 25mg so you have to open them and divide it up. > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, > > > >  > > > > Well, I was the one attempting to give advice to folks a couple weeks ago about ALA, and here I am in desperate need of some guidance. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I am quite sure I react also to ALA because of some sensitivity. I have not been able to find out what ALA is made from or how they process it that may be causing a reaction. I have reactions to sals/ amines/ dairy and gluten. I have just found an ALA which is claiming to be sal free. by Olympian Labs.. I have phoned them to ask and they said if it says it is sal free it is.. Whether or not ?? I am going to try it my next chelating round..Email me personally if you want me to let you know.. It will be another few weeks before I do another round though.. nanci. > > Hi everyone, > > Well, I was the one attempting to give advice to folks a couple weeks ago about ALA, and here I am in desperate need of some guidance. > > My son is very sensitive to phenols so is on a very restrictive diet, multiple supplements, and we have done 30 rounds of DMSA (up to 25mg now).
