Andy says you can make your own TD-ALA by mixing ALA with a good quality hand

lotion.

The dosage and frequency are the same as oral. Just don't mix them together.

Do all transdermal or all oral dosing.

Subject: [ ] Transdermal ALA - Question for Andy please?

I want to know the feasibility of using transdermal ALA to chelate my 6 yr old

with asd. Does Andy approve of using the transdermal form of ALA for chelating?

Or is the absorption profile after transdermal application too variable to use

it as a form of delivery for ALA?

Are the kinetics of ALA studied after transdermal dosing and if so, is the

apparent half-life similar to that after oral dosing? Rather I am trying to ask

if the same 3 hr frequency is demonstrated to keep steady ALA blood levels after

transdermal dosing as well?

Thanks very much

That was interesting to hear. Thanks. I suppose it makes sense, as weak a thing

and slow a process as that might be over TD DMPS? (which costs us a small

fortune. (It cost us $400 for like, 5 ml. Secretin 15 years ago was worse. It

cost us $700 for one shot and did nothing, that we could tell.. .).

Buyer beware, 'cause the only justice you'll get would likely be from as much

Thanks very much, TJ. This is very helpful. Just for my own curiosity, can you

refer me to any published material or info to see the kinetics of td-ala? I

understand there could be lot of differences in absorption profiles depending on

the formulation/base used.

Is there any particular application site that is more preferred?

Yes, I'll only be doing transdermal exclusively and not mix it with oral.

Can people please share their experiences with td-ala? For those who switched

from oral to transdermal, please comment. Thanks!

Don't have any links to share with you, just repeating what Andy wrote, which is

what I try to do mostly and share my personal experience.

The absorbtion rate is different than oral, which is why you don't mix them

together.

Not sure about application sites. I've seen some talk about places where the

skin is thinner, like the back of the knees.

Depending on how much ALA you are mixing in, you could end up with a bit of

lotion.

We apply it to the torso, either the tummy or the back. I think there again as

long as you are consistent you will achieve similar absorbtion rates which will

keep the level in the bloodstream more stable than if you apply it to different

locations every time.
