Guest guest
Your post just showed up in my in box today (Monday) for some reason. It doesn't sound to me like you are seeing a rheumatologist because the medications you mentioned are not the ones that are most commonly used for RA or related diseases. Few GPs know enought about RA to treat it effectively so I strongly recommend that you see a rheumatologist. Please don't underestimate the seriousness of RA. 20 or 30 years ago anyone with RA was almost certain to be in a wheelchair and die early. That has changed dramatically with newer medications and it takes a specialist to keep track of the best medications. I hope you get effective treatment for your RA and feel better soon. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: Janice Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Saturday, July 23, 2005 8:30 AM Subject: New member first post I have just been diagnosed with RA and I am finding the first line meds not too helpful. I tried Naprosen but it was not effective at all. I now am taking Indocid but the first dose madde me dizzy and nauseated but did help with the pain. The 2nd and 3rd doses made me a little dizzy but did not seem as effective with the pain. I just want a good night sleep and not be in pain. I am taking the Indocid 3 times per day at 25 mg each. My doctor said I could go up to 50 mg 3 times per day. To top it off, I also have bipolar disorder. This diagnosis, luckily, has not effected my moods much but I also think I am in some sort of denial about the seriousness or RA.Thank you for letting me post and hope to make friends with you all in this group.Janice

Guest guest
Thanks for the replies. I have had symptoms for about 7 months now. My doctors were so busy lookiing at a blood disorder that I have that they kept ignoring me when I talked about my pain. I developed all over joint pain about a month after I had a blood transfusion in December. I do not know if it is related or not and my doctors are not sure either. The doctor that prescribed indomethacin was a specialist in internal med. I have since stopped taking it as I developed swelling in my arm and severe pain in my arm. I am taking naproxen now but I have been referred to a rheumatologist who flies into our little town every couple of months. I would feel better taking meds prescribed by a rheumy. Take care all, Janice > I have just been diagnosed with RA and I am finding the first line > meds not too helpful. I tried Naprosen but it was not effective at > all.
