Yes, have heard of it and know 2 kids personally, well, one adult and a neighbor

boy. Both parents had access to a fresh goat milk. Personally, we didn't try

it. Was very, very expensive and just went to rice since no access to a goat.

But if you have access to goats, worth a try.

Wondering if anyone here who has an allergy/sensitivity to cow's milk can

successfully have goat's milk/cheese without any reactions? Is there casein in

goat's milk?

Any input, positive or negative, is greatly appreciated!

My son would drool really bad when on cow's milk - when we stopped he stopped

drooling 95% within 3 days. He does really well on goat's milks and cheeses on a

daily basis. If he gets even a trace of cows milk we see it right away with the

drooling and fogginess.

I had a bad time with the homogenized/pastureized milk. I switched to RAW

milk and haven't had an issue. I have also used Goat milk with no issues..

You should try Raw Milk (whole foods )

I believe this is individually dependent. My dd has severe reaction to cow's

milk, but can tolerate cheddar cheese (both through challenge and IgG testing).

Strange, right! I tried Goat's milk, buffalo milk, and even sheep dairy

products. However, she reacted with vomiting to all. We did without milk, as I

did not want to have her on soy b/c of the hormone disruption and she is

sensitive to rice. Last year the clouds parted when Soy Delicious started

producing Coconut milk in the carton. I won't consume canned products b/c of the

BPA. It has the consistency of real milk and she sucks it right down. Plus, it

has MCFA.

I've also heard of folks that can tolerate raw cow's milk, but due to her severe

allergy to cow's milk I never tried it. I figure, I never was a big milk drinker

and I really only use it to mix with other products, it wasn't a big deal for

me. I know raw is illegal in some states and restricted in others. In CA it's

legal, but in CO it was restricted to only private ownership of cows (cow

sharing).

I wish you luck and trial and error is sometimes the only true test of weeding

out allergens. I usually do organic and pure products to make sure it's not a

cross reaction when I am challenging a food.

My mother was allergic to cow's milk when she was a child. Her parents got a

goat and she did ok with goat's milk (but in that day and case it was fresh,

unpastuerized). Who knows if she would have done better off milk altogether?

Thanks so much to all of you for the responses! I guess I should have been more

specific...my kids really like soy and almond milk, so the actual milk is not

the problem - it's the cheese that we just can't seem to find a good substitute

for. I was at Trader Joe's yesterday and found some sliced goat cheese and

bought it, but I've been too afraid to try it yet :) Both kids have significant

behavioral reactions to milk and I don't want to open up a can of worms, but I

guess experimenting is the only way to truly know.

Oh cheese. We do Galaxy Nutritional Food slices without Casein. It is soy based,

but I will actually eat it too! We do Follow Your Heart blocked cheese and it

does melt and my dd loves it. Whole foods has this new cheese made out of

alternative grains without soy or dairy called Daiya cheese. It comes shredded

too, but it's more pricey.

As for goat cheese you may want to do a challenge. My dd can do small amounts of

cow's cheddar cheese, but I do it on special occasions only.

I have looked for the Galaxy cheese and could not find it locally. I believe my

local grocery store carries one with casein only. I have found a soy-based

cheese at Whole Foods that both kids will eat - it might be Follow your Heart.

It's just that the goat cheese tasted so much better to me. As for Daiya, our

local WF doesn't carry it, at least not yet.

Thanks for the help!

, if the WH carries the brand they might be able to order either product

for you. They may choose not to keep it stocked b/c it doesn't sell well.

However, they typically can order it if their suppliers carry it. It takes a few

days, but worth a checking out.

Hummus & rice pasta makes a good alternative to cheese for something similar to

mac & cheese. Cashews blended with red bell pepper makes a good alternative to

cheese on pizza.

If goats milk doesn't work, I have found Daiya cheese a good alternative.. I

make cheese and mac , pizza or grilled cheese with it and the kids love it (

and don't react).

Hey ,

There is only one practitioner who lives w/in a 40 mile radius, and he didn't

seem too optimistic about helping eliminate a milk allergy. We're in Mass. and

someone here (?maybe you) recommended a practitioner on the North Shore (we're

South), but I just can't commit to that distance right now. I'm hoping

chelation will eventually help.

Go to YouTube and search EFT - Emotional Freedom Technique. It might take a

while, but I have boyyen rid of many allergies using it. Email me group if you

want additional detail. There seems to be a great deal of emotion with the

allergy of milk. It is generally more than just the enzymes lacking.
