Guest guest
One possible reason is he is eating foods that are easily digested or quickly digested and he is getting hungry. Adding fiber, more vegetables, and good fats may help. On the other hand, I don't want to scare you, but continuous hunger is an indication of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). Better check his blood sugar levels. Juice is a bad thing if he has hypoglycemia, because it raises and drops sugar levels suddenly causing health problems. Adding fiber, more vegetables, beans and good fats will help with hypoglycemia. Note: I am not a doctor. The above observation is based on my personal experience. Please treat this as a info only. Guest guest
I crave a lot of food while chelating, I'm not sure why. I do think that when I can't get full, it's yeast. Guest guest
I would say yeast and possibly gluten intolerance--are you gluten-free? My kiddos self-restricted their diet to dairy & high gluten foods (breaded ck. nuggets, milk and noodles) when they were getting an opiate effect. Is your bacon GF and corn-free, too? A lot bacon products have the latter mentioned, as well as nitrates. Applegate Farms bacon doesn't cause an infraction reaction here. Guest guest
My son also had this problem when his gut was a mess. His DAN told us he had malabsorption issues. Basically his body wasn't extracting nutrients from his food so he never got what he needed and kept asking for more. He was 2yo and could eat 2 lbs of hamburger in an hour. I am not exaggerating - it was freaky. He was also thirsty all the time (he is still thirstier than normal) and this could also be becuase his body isn't absorbing water in the intestines either. We put him on the SCD and saw huge gut improvement within a few months. His appetite has normalized over the past year so we're less strict with his diet now. So far that change hasn't resulted in any behavioral problems or obvious gut issues so we're letting him enjoy different foods now. Many parents have seen behavioral improvements after changing their child's diet (GFCF and SCD) however that was not the case for us. I still believe in the process and think that it helps a lot of kids both inside and out. Guest guest
At my house, this would be yeast....my kids can't tolerate juices without their yeast goin nuts. I would boost your yeast protocol...candex or whatever and see if that helps. Guest guest
I have severe malabsorption myself, nothing has helped me at all in this area.I can go days without eating, and still make a couple of massive malabsorptive BMs a day. Your son's eating of hambuger reminds me of mine with dairy,I could eat two pounds of cheese at a clip, and three hours later have a half gallon of ice cream...and I had rickets.I know what addictions are,and how your brain craves a certain food to function on any level. I have the same issues with water. Eliminating select foods only caused reactions to new food I never had before.I have recently gone off all solid food entirely, and am only using a soy-based liquid meal replacement.I have had reactions to soy in food, but not like this. This combined with the dozen or so supplements I take has caused my autism to suddenly vanish like it never existed in the first place. My GI problems have not gone away, and I still have as much pain an inflammation of the gut as ever.My DAN! is stumped. > > > > hi does any one know y my son cant get full. he is always looking for more to eat i have him on isotonix probiotics and mulitvitamin love uncured bacon and chicken nuggets. and lots of juice so i do hide the juice at home. what can i do or any test i should be running on him > > > > thanks > > >
Guest guest
I have always had serious issues with corn, both GI and opiates.MUCH worse than gluten,or any other food,in fact.I have always eaten a lot of meat, especially chicken and pork,as beef has always caused me problems.Since I went off dairy,I have been made more aware of problems in both areas from chicken and pork.I had thought it might be from the seasonings used on them, but are you saying the meat has absorbed the opiates from the corn ? I had not heard this before.Details please. > > I would say yeast and possibly gluten intolerance--are you gluten-free? Guest guest
Dana,  I know you have issues with Miralax. Both of my sons doctors insist he must take it for his chronic constipation problems, but something new is bothering me about this. It seems like when he takes Miralax for a few days, he has a problem with urination. He seems to have an urgency but can't go.  Have you ever heard of this? I try not to give this unless nothing else is working or he has to go for a colonoscopy. Could you tell me what kind of problems can result from taking this stuff?   The last colonoscopy showed inflammation in the intestines and the GI doctor said he must not be allowed to get constipated, so to give Miralax twice a day. I have not been doing so. I have been alternating between Milk of Magnesia(which makes him gag), magnesium(which he hates-can't swallow pills), and Miralax in liquid. It seems that he needs to use the bathroom every day not to be in pain. I have noticed that when he takes Trienza he seems to go better. He is only getting one capsule. Should I increase that?  Thanks, From: danasview <danasview@...> Subject: [ ] Re: Stomach cant be full Date: Friday, January 8, 2010, 9:32 AM  > hi does any one know y my son cant get full. he is always looking for more to eat This usually meant yeast overgrowth here, altho sometimes it meant intolerance. Give him one TriEnza with each meal. Yeast overgrowth can also be constipating, so be sure you have a good yeast protocol. Dana
Guest guest
He should get a Trienze with each meal and even snacks. You can up it slowly from one to two also. With your shipment, you should have got a dosing schedule on how to dose and increase. If you can add alovera juice to help the inflammation, Epson salt baths too. Guest guest
You could try " laxative bath " ... 5 cups epson salt in a warm bath.... and soak for a good 45 mitnutes. It makes the water sandy but the theory is it hydrates the bowel through absorbing the bath water. In our son, it ususally helps produce a stool, if he's feeling constipated. Guest guest
Probably doesn't get enough water or fiber. Eats oatmeal and fruit for breakfast. Takes him an hour to drink 2 oz. of grape juice. Has a sensory problem with water so bad he can't even stand to hear the word or see any one else drink it. He does drink sodas, but hates Sprite. For lunch he eats chicken strips. Will eat a hotdog or some scrambled eggs with ketchup occasionally. Eats gf french toast made with rice bread.  He started self limited foods when he had a bad experience in the Autistic classroom and has continued to do so for the past few years. If we try to get anything else down him he starts to gag.  How do I get to " files " ? Guest guest
Sodas containing caffeine are counterproductive because they serve as diuretics. Guest guest
Sugar free scares me more than the fact that he is drinking sodas. Can you buy a juicer and juice? You can pick up a good stand alone juicer at many second hand stores (Goodwill, etc.) for less than $10 to see if it will work for him. Cucumbers, orange, celery, cilantro, parsley, spinach, berries are all good. Regular soda will have high fructose corn syrup. They separate the corn with a soda mixture that contains mercury and there is also aluminum in the corn syrup from the manufacturing process, not to mention storing it in aluminum cans and plastic bottles. I want to say that there is something in Sprite and Mountain Dew that is a chelator... but I will have to look that up. Sugar free sodas are going to have Splenda (formaldehyde in your body), Aspartame, or something equally as toxic. I know my doctor had children trying to commit suicide because of the neurological damage that artificial sweeteners were doing to the children's brains, which was reversed after taking them off diet sodas. If he has to have soda, maybe you can find pure cane sugar? Soda comes to mind, but they do have " throwback " containers of Pepsi products made with real sugar. Guest guest
Alot of our kids are like this. Reasons I know of are- Yeast overgrowth, vitamins make kids want to eat more alot of the time, and the need for vitamins they aren't getting from their food or supplimets, also alot of times with kids I know it's a sensory thing, needing that oral stimulation. You can have tests done for deficencies & yeasts. For yeast you can try doing a few things like giving Grapefruit seed extract (I use 4 drops in a capsule one x a day right after a meal for 4 days to start) for yeast and giving probiotics after the extract. Keep the sweets and juices away for a bit after that. That will give you a better idea of if it's yeast related or not. If my child gets too many sugars of any kind she gets yeast & then eats like crazy till it's gone.
