Guest guest
As with anything, some kids don't tolerate it well. ALA is the more important of the two because it crosses the blood brain barrier and removes metals from the brain, but is better if you can use both because it will remove 20-30% more metals according to Andy Cutler. Guest guest
ALA is cheaper, readily available, doesn't require an MD prescription (neither does DMSA, really, but it is harder to get), and probably sounds better to people because it is 'natural'. Best yet, ALA crosses the blood-brain barrier, which makes it all you need to rid your body of mercury. I use DMSA and ALA because of lead. DMSA chelates lead well and ALA does not. The combination of the two, for us, really seems to work. Good luck. Guest guest
pam, could you please give me a more detailed explanation about how you combine the use of both??? his  last hmetals test shows lead too. what l have read from andy`s book, he recommends DMSA after amalgam removal, and then move on to ALA but since that is not my kid`s case; is there a BEST way to go when starting?? tia lsa --- El sáb 19-jun-10, Pamela H <phaselow@...> escribió: De: Pamela H <phaselow@...> Asunto: [ ] Re: reasons for not using DMSA A: Fecha: sábado, 19 de junio de 2010, 10:27  ALA is cheaper, readily available, doesn't require an MD prescription (neither does DMSA, really, but it is harder to get), and probably sounds better to people because it is 'natural'. Guest guest
We started with DMSA for one of my sons and DMPS for the other (but needed an r/x for that). After several rounds we introduced ALA in very small doses. Now we vary it - sometimes I do just ALA and sometimes a combo of DMSA/ALA or DMPS/ALA. DMSA is good for lead, which is an issue for one of my sons. But mercury in the areas that ALA reaches is the priority. DMSA can reduce neutrophils and is more work for the liver, so I use ALA alone if I feel my son's immune system needs extra protection or his liver needs a boost. Guest guest
Hi Dana and All, Thinking of starting DMSA orally with my 5 year old. My BIGGEST concern is, he is a yeasty kid, so YEAST WILL BE A TERROR SOON! What all can I do to keep that in check? Nystatin continuosly GSE continuosly Oil of Oregano rotation with GSE? Biotin 2000mg a day(didn't had constipation when started though) Dana, any suggestion on that! Saurkraut 3 tbsp every day. Thinking of Carylic acid(but he didn't quite tolerate it last time, lot of bloating with Kapprycidin?) Yes, all kind of probiotics. By the way I found out that VSL #3 capsules have traces of CASEIN, anyone seeing negatives from it? Thanks a ton, Sasmita Any other suggestions? > > > > > > I'm about to start chelation my son of 6 years and 25 kilos, I have doubts because I've read that many popes have chelated only ALA and I could never find the reasons for not doing so with DMSA. > > > I have no Dr. to advise, so I ask you, what are the reasons for not using DMSA > > > thanks to all > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Guest guest
Sorry I meant Biotin 2000 mcg NOT mg;0 sasmita > > > > > > > > > > I'm about to start chelation my son of 6 years and 25 kilos, I have doubts because I've read that many popes have chelated only ALA and I could never find the reasons for not doing so with DMSA. > > > > > I have no Dr. to advise, so I ask you, what are the reasons for not using DMSA > > > > > thanks to all > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >

Presuming you meant biotin 2000mcg, that would not have been enough for my son. I ended up giving him 20mg [20,000mcg] 3x per day, plus a lot of GSE 3x per day, when the yeast was really bad. If the biotin is constipating, give it with magnesium. Dana
