Guest guest
Hi Jen, I haven't seen this personally, but I wonder if it's shingles? Has your son has chicken pox or the varicella vaccine (a live virus)? Maybe some lysine and Virastop could help with a viral issue. Welcome back to chelation. Hope he feels better soon! Guest guest
I would never say a painful, sensitive rash is a good sign. No neurotic thoughts about you... sometimes people use improper doses and improper protocol. They then learn about other ways to chelate and they try it again. A very common story here! I'm sorry this isn't going as you had hoped. I would make a visit to the MD for that rash. This could be a coincidence. I don't know if I've ever heard about ALA doing this. What else is in that ALA capsule? Pam > > Hello, > Some of you may remember that I have complained about having tried ALA/DMSA chelation with my son many years ago and was very unhappy with the effect. Guest guest
Did this happen the first time you did the ALA/DMSA years ago? It depends on what the rash looks like. My Daughter had a rash on her bottom with painful pimple looking bumps after doing ALA/DMSA rounds. We did the chelation with a natural med Dr who told me that it was common for it to happen due to the metals coming out through the skin & sometimes in the poop which will make a rash if the child isn't potty trained. I personally do not like DMSA for chelating. It's very harsh on he digestive system and caused alot of gut upset and yeast with my child. I use a biomed DAN Dr and we do DMPS & EDTA supposiories alternating between the two. this has been so much better for the health of my child as well as showing very good results in areas of behavior, health & development. I know there is alot of debate going on as to which chelators are best to use and if you should go with a Dr or not, but for us it was well worth the time and money (it wasn't very expensive) to turn the chelating and suppliments over to a doctor. With that said, you could try stopping the treatments, for a few months, to see if the rash goes away. If it does, then you could try again at lower dosages to see if the rash comes back. If it does I would seek out other methods of chelation, either through a DAN or natural medicine Dr, or using the more gentle chelating agents you can find researching on the net or asking other parents about. Hope this is helpful to you. > > Hello, > Some of you may remember that I have complained about having tried ALA/DMSA chelation with my son many years ago and was very unhappy with the effect. Guest guest
EDTA is contradictive to mercury toxic people. Also, once-a-day suppository chelation is a recipe for more organ and brain damage. I don't care what the doctor says. I went that route and had nothing but bad results. I believe what Andy Cutler writes about, and he has the science to back it up. Not just " I'm a doctor, do what I say " TJ ________________________________ From: spiritfinder7 <spiritfinder@...> Sent: Mon, January 11, 2010 8:15:19 AM Subject: [ ] Re: ALA rash  Did this happen the first time you did the ALA/DMSA years ago? Guest guest
Ok, As I stated in my reply MY doctor doesn't go with the " I'm a doctor, do what I say. " approach. My DAN Dr is a parent of a child with autism just like most of the people on here. And might I add that the DAN organization has the science to back up what they do as well. Thank you for your opinion. Guest guest
No problem. It also happens to be the popular opinion on this list. Many of us have been down the route you are taking and hurt our children even more or at best had poor results and regression. THEN, we found this group and started the AC protocol and started having positive gains and moving towards recovery. I would be remiss if I did not counter your comments. There could be a newcomer here that does not know any better and could wander down that path wasting precious time and money on a protocol that could hurt their child. Guest guest
We are just doing ALA right now, that is the only thing in the capsule. I do remember him having a rash last time, I also remember him (and me) getting a rash in response to a homeopathic detox called homeomedix in 1998. I felt like crap when we did that detox. Does metal come out through the skin? He did have the varicella vaccine, and he did not catch the chicken pox from me when I contracted it as an adult in 2002. Can a kid that never had chicken pox get shingles? It doesn't seem that severe. Thanks for your comments. So I gather a slightly painful (or sensitive) rash is not common with chelation? > > > > > > Hello, > > > Some of you may remember that I have complained about having tried ALA/DMSA chelation with my son many years ago and was very unhappy with the effect. You will wonder if I am completely neurotic for saying that and then telling you we are trying it again (this time just ALA). > > >  > > > This is the second round. He developed a rash on his lower legs after the first round. It had almost dried up, but now it is back and it is hurting him. It is sensitive to light touch. Sometimes he hollers out in pain. > > >  > > > Can anyone who has been through this personally tell me if this is a good sign or a bad sign? > > > Jen > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I just google imaged pictures of shingles. They were scary, and looked much more dark red and blistery compared to this rash. My son accused me of looking at pornography beacuse there were some behind shots. > > > > Hello, > > Some of you may remember that I have complained about having tried ALA/DMSA chelation with my son many years ago and was very unhappy with the effect. Can a kid that never had chicken pox get shingles? It doesn't seem that severe. When I first started lysine [which will eliminate herpes virus, including varicella and shingles], my #3 and #4 developed this rash, which was virus coming out http://www.danasview.net/3_rash.jpg #3 also developed more of a shingle-looking rash for a few days later on during the lysine protocol. Fortunately, neither one of those rashes lasted more than a few days while the virus was leaving his body. He had never had chicken pox or shingles before this, so the virus must have entered his body and sat latent, not causing the typical symptoms. Guest guest
My nephew developed shingles after the chicken pox vaccine. Slight discomfort is fine. Eveyone has different pain tolerances. I wouldn't let a PAINFUL rash go unseen by an MD. I've heard about mercury coming out of pores while sweating, but I don't know if they will be coming out of your skin while chelating, since the ALA/DMSA will carry it out via urine or stool, not sweat. Rashes are not uncommon while doing biomed, but I don't believe they are common while chelating, per se. The anti-viral treatments are the ones that evoke the rashes, typically. Lysine, OLE, Virastop, etc. Maybe you should try an anti-viral? Start slow. Olive Leaf Extract or Lysine? Guest guest
Dana, How much Lysine would eliminated the Herpes virus? I've been taking 1500 mg's daily for the last two years. There have been times that I had forgotten to take it or I had an extremely stressful day and BAM, a cold sore pops up. I would love to eliminate it, is it possible? What dose? Guest guest
Dana, It's not that red and bumpy. In one spot it looks like a light burn or scrape, with the blood close to the surface of the skin. Sort of like a hickey. It still hurts so I dropped the round. He is also saying his hip hurts now too. He was not good at school today. His conversation seems more age appropriate and I think he is actually listening to what I am saying. How can two rounds of ALA only chelation cause a rash, hip pain, bad behavior, and improved language/conversational skills. I'm confused as to whether I am helping or hurting him or neither and it's all in my head (but apparently in his hip too.) Guest guest
Hi, I went through this and when I took him to our Dr. he said it means the body is releasing toxins, which makes sense , since you are chelating . I Put Boudreaux's Butte Paste on my son when this occurs and it seems to disappear in a couple of days, this product was developed by a Pharmacist in Louisiana named Dr. Boudreaux, it can be found in the diaper rash isle.. You want your child to release toxins, since this is the whole reason you are chelating.. just try to figure out what works for you.. I hope this helps.. Guest guest
Thank you. I feel better about this now. I do remember him getting a rash the first time we tried chelation, but he wasn't really expressing discomfort verbally then. On the bright side, he is conversing more normally. It is really noticable to me. On the downside, he is having difficulty controlling anger. He was horrible on Monday and Tuesday at school. Yet, he is behaving very NT at home. > > > > > > Hello, > > > Some of you may remember that I have complained about having tried > ALA/DMSA chelation with my son many years ago and was very unhappy with the > effect.
