hi just reading through, it says the starting dose od dmsa alone is 1mg per

pound, with ala, it drops to 1/4 to 1/8. but lots of people are saying that even

if you are using dmsa alone, you should still start at 1/4 to 1/8, which is

right?? want to get this up and running tomorrow.

so at 100lbs ds1 sud start at 12.5 not the 25 I initially thought and his

brother who is 50lb should start at half that

aaggh I'm confused!!!

any clarification please

are the faq right and say go for the 1mg per pound dose, or what thank you for

any clarification

as we will be doing this without the doc, i think we are going to start, really

start this time, i have been doing a lot of research into kais hand tremors and

this seems to correlate with lead poisening, so we feel we are definately going

to run with dmsa alone for a few months and then add in ala when we are more

confident.

pound, now that scares me, he's 100lbs. so can I start him with 25mg per dose?

do that for 4 weeks, then increase to 37mg per dose for 4 weeks, then up to

50mg, (not comfortable with the max dose of 100mg). personally, i'm going to go

with an amount that doesnt set off his yeast, so if 75mg is too much, then i'd

stay at 50mg if you know what I mean, i'd rather chelate him for longer with

fewer side effects tbh.

taken us long to start is my suffering with lack of sleep, i have a 7 yr old

with adhd/asd who doesnt sleep and a 3 yr old who has been ill with ear

infections pretty much 2 weeks out of every 6 for 3 years plus she has night

terrors too pretty much every night, so my sleep is very disrupted anyway, and

we are just worrying that its going to prove to much for me.

Hi Emma

Starting at 12.5 mg DMSA (1/8th of 100lb body weight) should be OK.

The link below might be helpful.

Why are you doing a challenge test? 350mg is way too much DMSA, even 25mg would

be too much. Are you sure she isnt dosing 25mg/kg?

When I picked up my DMSA from my pharm it stated that the dose was 350mg. This

is for a two year old. I never gave my son the dose and called my doctor right

away. She explained to me the dose was 350mg per kg. She said the actual dose my

son would be getting was 25mg. This was in order to do a challenge test with.

However, when I called the pharm they too said the script read 350mg so that is

what they gave us. I don't need to tell you what that would do to such a little

guy. Does this make sense to anyone?

Don't give that to your kid and stop seeing that doctor. Unless it was being

given transdermal(which would still be WAY too much).

  • 3 weeks later...

I was just wondering if anyone is/has dosed oral DMSA twice a day rather than

every 3 hours. I've have read many other dosing schedules and wondered if anyone

is dosing differently and have they had any problems not dosing the recommended

every 3 hours schedule.

Sure if you want serious potential for metal redistribution. The dosing is

every 3 hours because of the half life of the chelating agent. Why would you

want to use a different dosing schedule, ac protocol works, is the most safe and

gentle.

Yes, we have tried dosing several times a day rather than every 3 hours. It

created a lot of new problems including acid reflux, IBS, rage, aggression. It

was the worst thing we have ever done. DON'T DO IT.

I bought a $4 timer and every other weekend I re-set it every 3 hours, around

the clock. At bedtime I put it on the little table that is a few feet away

from my bed, along with a glass of water, a bottle of water for refilling the

glass, and the bottle of pills. When the timer goes off I just re-set it for 3

hours, go give him the pill and tell him to swallow it and go back to sleep. He

does, and I go back to bed. It takes about 1 minute and it's a lot easier than

I thought it would be. It's a lot easier than dealing with all the problems

created by dosing several times per day.
