Guest guest
Congrats ! -------------- Original message -------------- From: "revaddict" <revaddict@...> Well, everyone, it's official. I got the confirmation last night thatI passed my test for 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo! I have somepictures that I will get scanned and uploaded as soon as I can get toa high-speed connection.I won't bore you with all the details, but here are a few highlightsfrom Sunday's test. The test went longer than expected--it was about3.5 hours! The first hour was solid kicking and hand techniques withvery little chance to catch my breath. It was so grueling that Ibegan to see stars! (My instructor had me sit out the last couple ofdrills when he saw what was happening.) To give you an idea of howtough this part was, my uniform got so wet that my belt is still damptwo days later and you could even see my underwear through the uniformif you looked closely. (Sorry if that's too much information, ladies.)I got through the rest of the test okay, but that first hour took somuch out of me that my techniques weren't as clean as they normallyare. I chatted with my instructor about this last night and he toldme that this wasn't a big deal. The point was to see what we would doafter working for a solid hour. So that made me feel better.I also broke three boards with a jumping twisting back kick which I'venever done before. I was trying for four, but after that drainingfirst hour it wasn't happening. As I said, I'll get some pics up soon. I'm taking the rest of theweek off and I'm eating just about anything to celebrate. Thanks for your words of encouragement along the way, everyone. Guest guest
Jackie, welcome, not to say I'm glad you are here, I wouldn't wish this on anyone, but I am glad you found this group, they are very knowledgeable and supportive. First off, the most important thing besides antibiotics is a good probiotic to give you back some of your good bacteria, you can ask your pharmacist for it, the best will be refridgerated. I'm very glad you finally found a diagnosis, I went a year not knowing and I almost went insane, I couldn't imagine 21 years....they think I've had lyme and co infections for 11 years though, so I am in for the long haul too. I am glad your doc told you that it is going to be long and slow, just try to remember that on your bad days, it does get better, just takes a looooooooong time. Have you read up on what a herx is? Be prepared for that when you do start your abx. You can pretty much google anything and find a lot of good advice/info on stuff. Good luck and take care! Guest guest
i am happy for you most of all..now you know...it is a long road....whos to say how we can get it..maybe even a dog could carry it in or could be on clothes etc...we can't keep the outside out...then i wonder myself if anyone truelly knows whether lyme could be transmitted via cows milk or other animal who is infected...i don't believe anyone knows.. as far as sexually....i haven't heard that but anyone who knows please speak up on that research finding...thanks... keep your chin up..i recently was diagnosed...it was bitter sweet..but i try to see positive in my recovery..in spite of XMRV retrovirus..related to lyme...we are in a better age for recovery than years back...peace, leanne From: jbnoteslinger@... Date: Wed, 22 Sep 2010 14:04:28 -0400 Subject: [ ] Test Results! Hi again, everyone! Well - I'm back from my appt. - and it was POSITIVE! I am SO full of mixed emotions right now. Numb mainly. 21 years of this nightmare. I know y'all know what it's like, but it's been SO hard when those around me do NOT understand. My own sister complained to a friend one time about how I " never help out with cleaning the house " . If she only knew how HARD it is just for me to do the things I HAVE to do each day like - um - brushing my teeth! Wears me out to do even that. Anyway - back to my labs! This was a brand new lyme panel from NeuroScience. If you want the full info, it's at: https://www.neurorelief.com/index.php?option=com_content & task=view & id=604 I don't totally understand what it all means, but the " summary " was: Lyme ITT: Positive response / Cytokines: Elevated response. Then it said: " The results of the Lyme ITT suggest exposure to Lyme-specific antigens. The results of the cytokine test suggest an activated immune system (inflammatory response) to the Lyme-specific antigens. Therapeutic intervention is suggested. " The ones that seemed the most positive were called " p41 " and " DbpA " . The OspC was also high. She said that there was a STRONG indication of co-infection - that the co-infection was even higher than the Lyme itself. So she ran a Bartonella test today to send to Quest. We sent bloodwork to an epidemiologist that she is in touch with and she said that he tests for Babesiosis. That should be back before too much longer. I was reading the Guidelines of Dr. Burrascano, and the symptoms that indicated Babesiosis seemed VERY much " me " - so I have a strong feeling that is at least one of the co-infections I have. My doctor is starting me first on doxycycline 100 mg. twice a day. She said this will be a long haul and we'll have to tweak and adjust and possible add Biaxin to that as well and she mentioned the " pulsing " method. She gave me a handout that explains how she treats and I was thrilled to see she goes by Dr. Burrascano's guidelines! I " hope " I am in good hands...! Just in case, are than any good LLMD's y'all recommend in the FL Panhandle area? So now I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, though much relieved! I feel like I need to hurry and read everything I can about this to figure out what to DO! What supplements, etc., to order. I can hardly believe after 21 years that this has turned out to be Lyme Disease all along - especially since I'm NOT an " outdoors type " at ALL! But my husband IS - and this CAN be transmitted sexually, right? From what I've been reading, it's starting to look that way...? Thanks again for being there... Guest guest
Jackie: I understand the mixed results of receiving the diagnosis. I know your head is spinning with all that you have to absorb. Has your husband been tested? Someone suggested a good probiotic which is great advice. somewhere online I found Burroscano's supplement and vitamin recommendations in order of importance. As I could afford it, I added on slowly. I was just diagnosed in July after having what The U of M told me was Lupus. My diagnosis came after my 15 year old son's in May. He had been sick for 3 years. No one EVER mentioned Lyme to either of us but our symptoms seemed to be screaming " Lyme " . He had 19 doctors. I don't want to count mine. My oldest healthy son was just diagnosed this month so three of us will be on Burroscano's treament through an ILADS doctor 5 hours away. I'm glad to hear you are in good hands. Doxy didn't make me herx. It wasn't until I combined 3 antibiotics which includes now Tindamax on the weekends, I am starting to feel some effects but nothing too bad- yet! Wishing you the best, Kari in Ohio
Guest guest
Thanks, Bridget! I've read and heard about herx-ing - my doctor is hoping that by starting me at the 100 mg. dose we'll avoid that, but I know if I get weird symptoms it's probably that On Wed, Sep 22, 2010 at 4:28 PM, bridget <blueyes7648@...> wrote: > Jackie, welcome, not to say I'm glad you are here, I wouldn't wish this on > anyone, but I am glad you found this group, they are very knowledgeable and > supportive. > > First off, the most important thing besides antibiotics is a good probiotic > to give you back some of your good bacteria, you can ask your pharmacist for > it, the best will be refridgerated. > > I'm very glad you finally found a diagnosis, I went a year not knowing and > I almost went insane, I couldn't imagine 21 years....they think I've had > lyme and co infections for 11 years though, so I am in for the long haul > too. Guest guest
Wow, Kari, all 3 of you?! That must be very hard... I'm glad you're all finally getting the right treatment, though. I was also diagnosed with lupus... My husband hasn't been tested, but only recently has he been having some vague symptoms of fatigue that he didn't have before. He's always been " healthy as a horse " with an immune system that kicked everything he got! I've been attributing his recent fatigue to the extra stress his job has had him under the past year or so, plus his father passed away last year after a long illness... I just came across Burrascano's supplement list last night and wow - some are expensive! Which ones are you taking? I'm thinking the multi would definitely be a good one, but it looks like it's around $100 a MONTH! I've been using Shaklee up till now... Thanks again, Jacki On Thu, Sep 23, 2010 at 12:21 PM, endomr <ktdommer@...> wrote: > > Jackie: > I understand the mixed results of receiving the diagnosis. I have always have a problem with bile secretion, high fecal fat content, headaches etc so I have been taking Ox bile and pancreatin for some years. Do you think it is worth trying glycine/taurine? > > > > > > Thanks. > > > > > >
