That would be my guess. I know they keep trying to get me back to work, but my doc keeps telling them no. Luckily, and one of the reasons I've stuck with him despite his ineptitude is that he is one of the docs that SS sends you to, to be evaluated to get SSDI. I couldn't work for any amount of money and he knows it. When I told him they were going to do a medical review, he sent in paperwork regarding my illnesses and they never did do the review.

You might check out the Social Security website and see what it says about working part time. I would think at a certain point of money they would reduce your benefits, but I don't know. That's just a guess.

Hello Sandy ,

I really dont know about being allowed to make extra money legaley while being disabled ? but

I can tell you that a home is a money pit , theres alot that comes into play as needing maitiness ,repairs,

taxes , paint ,insurance ,lawn care , and such its getting hard for me to keep mine up and this is a interresting subject as its been brought to my attion by work mates and it does make sence to me as they put it to me ,,,,,, so Sandy not trying to bring you down or anything ( its just that 300.00 dollars can turn into much more real fast some times ) but lets see what the group comes up with here as I was wanting to buy me a nice home with my 401 when the kids was grown and we where older and things where quiter but didnt plan on this diease crap biteing me so , and now looking at stoping work in a couple of weeks LOL what life throws us cannt allways be thrown back in I guess ,. But the house being a money pit and it being so hard for us to take care of ,,,, what do you all think of this verses just a simple low rent

appartment where you pay the rent they mow the grass and you have nothing to fix , no foundation repairs , painting , grass mowing , roofing , taxs every year , property any way , just relax in pain ?????? as looks

likes its going to be a poor exsitance for me anyway LOL . whats the thoughts here every one ????

Hello everyone, does anyone of you workbeing on SSDI? If so do you know how it works. When I got disabled I had to fight with anattorney for it. I am afraid if I get some workpart time I will lose my disability. We wantto get a home and my husband is disable too. All we need is about 300 dollars extra a monthso we would not have to work too much. We sowant our own home. We rent now and the people below us are giving us so much grief and thelandlord does not care. We hope we can work somebut not sure what to do. Any input will be helpful.I do know they say you can make so much when youare disabled but is that truly a ploy to get you offthe disability? Hope to hear from someone.\Sandy

makes a great point, but I know how you feel, Sandy! My husband I rent

too. We make a decent amount of money combined but so much of our

money goes to medicines and treatments for the both of us, as he suffers from

Crohn's Disease, Mental Illness and pain from a leg he broke over 2 years

ago + all my fun stuff!

We are suing for when he broke his leg and are hoping for an award of

something that will at least let us put a down payment on a house. That's the

only way we will ever be able to afford one. We actually want a townhouse,

as those do not require as much maintenace since the associations provide

that for a fee.
