Thanks for sharing this important news.

I am astonished that a Autism nutritional company gets any ingredient from China

especially after so many pet deaths and contaminated drug reports. I have been a

regular customer of Kirkman labs from more than 5 years. Now, I am having second

throughts. I will buy the products which promise that they don't use any product

ingredients from China.

How toxic is Antimony? Is it same or more than Arsenic?

I think you should stop doing challenge tests on your child. They can cause

further damage.

They re-distibute the metals and cause further damage to the organs and brain.

I just received a call from our DAN! She said that Kirkman labs contacted her

late yesterday stating that they have found that one of their suppliers has been

supplying them with contaminated products.

She said the following products have been contaminated with Antimony:

Liquid Zinc

Super Nu Thera

DMAE

TMG with Folinic Acid

Chewable Vitamin C

My 4 year old son was on the zinc. We did a DMSA challenge on 12/12 and found

that his urine toxic metal test came back with very high anitmony.

If you are using any of the above products, stop using and call your DAN! right

away.

I called Kirkman and they said it was from the Stevia sweetner that they used in

those products. Guess where the Stevia came from... China. Surprise! When will

we learn not to trust products from China?

How long has your child been on this stuff though? Because my kid was high in

antimony before he ever went on supplements, many of our kids are high in

antimony, so without testing the products you have on hand to see if they were

actually contaminated.....it's hard to know if all his antimony was from the

zinc supplement or not. Or did the company contact you or did you match up batch

numbers from the supplement with what they say are contaminated?

Just some thoughts....either way chelation will be helpful in addressing the

antimony. And it's good you brought this to everyone attention so we can be

aware and figure out what's going on.

Has anyone been contacted directly by Kirkman about this problem?

They very recently switched to stevia over sorbitol, but I don't think they were

using it six months ago..could be wrong....

It's possible that some of what he dumped wasn't from zinc supplement.

And no more challenge tests, those are more of a problem than antimony as TK

explained.

If anyone substantiates this let me know. I contacted Kirkman...if I hear I'll

let everyone know also. Trying to get lot numbers or some verification from

them.

To be fair to Kirkmans, at the time they just stated or boasted that the lead

content in their Calcium Supps was lower than most, although it turns out not

all other Calcium Supps, which was probably true.

I did talk with a customer service rep. at Kirkman. They said it was from the

Stevia from one particular supplier. The problem would have been in things

heavily sweetened with Stevia. Since antimony is not considered a heavy metal,

most manufacturers did not test for this. Now they do. Got the same story from

the people who manufacture the Stevita that we use as our normal household

sweetener.

I have used liquid TMG with folinic acid for a long time, but when they pulled

the liquid from their warehouse a few months back, I switched to TMG capsules

with folinic acid and MethylB12. Those were not an issue since there is no

Stevia in them.

What alternatives have you found that work better or are easier to take? I know

there are a lot of other companies, but I have tried very few because I don't

know who and where and what their products are. I started out with Kirkman years

ago, and still order a few things from them and try others periodically. Last

year I started with Houston enzymes because of advice from this group and have

been very happy with them.

I am so sorry about a comment I made about antimony not being considered a heavy

metal. I was repeating something I had been told. Once I looked it up for

myself(had never heard of antimony), I found that it is indeed considered a

heavy metal.

Thanks for posting this important info. Does Kirkman have an estimate of the

amount of antimony per capsule?

Isn't it a problem to injest antimony while chelating?

Anyone know how the stevia became contaminated with antimony?

We use Stevia to sweeten a lot of stuff here. I called the manufacturers on

everything we have. The Stevia in the packets from Walmart come from China; the

Stevita brand that we buy at our local healthfood store comes from Brazil.

I received this which comes from Canada and was sent to Kirkman Distributors:

Dec 30, 2009

Dear Kirkman Distributor,

It has come to Kirkman's attention that a raw material supplier has been

supplying Kirkman with substandard quality material that is higher in antimony

content than what would be considered acceptable to the special needs community.

Raw material supplier are actually not required to test for antimony levels

routinely, so this problem did not come to our attention until a physician using

Kirkman products brought the issue to our attention. We immediately had our

laboratory research the issue which they quickly isolated and linked it to a

specific raw material.

We have stopped using this material and have located and purchased a quality

replacement which we will begin using immediately.

We are asking that if you have any of the following products which utilized this

material in your inventory, that you destroy the products and request credit or

replacement with new lots when they become available. Call Kirkman customer

service to make these requests. The products involved include all lots of the

following products:

1. Zinc Liquid Product #387/8 and 387/16

2. Super Nu-Thera w/o A and D Product #447/454

3. DMAE 50 mg. Chewable Product # 489/90

4. Super Nu-Thera Powder-Orange Product # 410/454

5. B Complex Powder Pro Support Product # 399/7

6. TMG w/ Folinic and B-12 Powder Product #413/4 and 389/250

7. Chewable Vitamin C Tablets Product #389/100 and 389/250

Kirkman regrets the inconvenience associated with this issue, but Kirkman will

not compromise our quality standards that we have stood for throughout our

existence.

Sincerely,

Larry Newman

COO Technical and Regulatory Affairs

*********************************************************

Sooo the products above are the affected products.

I'd not buy or use any Stevia from China. Generally, I'd not ingest anything

made in China...their track record is terrible.

I have not read of a " problem with ingesting antimony while chelating " since

technically we all ingest metals daily from eating and drinking.....thankfully,

chelation helps remove what we are getting from uncontrollable sources. (and no

I " m no saying it's ok to ingest antimony or any other metal deliberately because

we are chelating).

Everything in Walmart comes from China....or so it seems...ugh. I watched that

documentary about Walmart and they have factories in China where they employ

people to make all the products they sell. This is how they provide them so

cheap to us. Problem is they don't have to comply with our safety standards for

making things either. Which is why I had a fireman jacket for my son that he was

not allowed to have because it contained LEAD...and we had to return it.

They are not a " for America " company by any means....but aside from that....be

cautious what you buy or eat from there.

We use Sweet Leaf Stevia, which is made in the U.S.
