Guest guest
Just don't up the dose by more than 50%. How much does he weigh? TJ ________________________________ From: LINDA <lpopick@...> Sent: Tue, March 23, 2010 7:24:40 AM Subject: [ ] Just finished 10th round-update and question on if I should raise the dosages? Â My 5 yr old son just finished his 10th round. More than 1/2 of the rounds have lasted more than 5 days. He's always been at 5mg DMSA and then I added 2.5mg ALA after a few months (I initially started him on 5mg ALA but he was crying a lot and hitting his head so I lowered the ALA dose in half and he was much better). So basically he's had 2.5mg ALA the last 5 doses. He seems to do much better on a round and I have seen slow and steady gains since starting so I definitely feel it is making a difference for him. Little things like asking appropriate questions and more social with his sister...good stuff I'm not sure if I should be increasing the DMSA and/or ALA on the next rounds and was hoping to get some advice. He doesn't have any noticeable redistribution side effects after the round is over. Yeast this time around seems to be in check and I would even go as far to say I haven't noticed any yeasty behaviors this time and I barely increased his yeast protocol-just gave him an extra drop of Cat's Claw each day. Any suggestions as to whether I should increase the dosages or stay at the same would be appreciated. Thanks!

Guest guest
We always give the same amount of both. Maybe you should try to go to 5mg of both again and see how he tolerates that. So, when you say 5 day round you are saying 5 days of dosing? How many days off? We do 3 days of dosing and 4 days of rest usually. During vacations we have done 6 days of dosing and 8 days of rest. Guest guest
Yes, for an example, if he did a 9 day round (of dosing), then we waited at least 9 days before the next round. I will try going back to 5mg ALA and stay at 5mg DMSA and see how he does. Then I stay at that dose for how many more rounds?? I just don't know when I'm supposed to be increasing...is it after 5 rounds and when there's no side effects? Thanks! > > > > Just don't up the dose by more than 50%. Guest guest
Not sure if there is a hard and fast rule on when to up the dose. I know many people have said not to increase it more than 50% at a time. You are dealing with such a small amount it would be hard to do that at 2.5mg. I think if he is tolerating a dose well for 10 rounds or so, then it would be OK to increase. Just my opinion on what I would do with my kids. I think the goal in your case would be to eventually get up to 12.5 mg of each, which is a half a capsule. Then run with that for a while.
