Guest guest
Tammy, There are parents who medicate AND do biomed. I know it sounds like a contradiction, but even Andy advocates for the use of a pharmaceutical under certain circumstances. I'm in the same boat, pretty much. I am tempted to look in to meds for the short term while I continue to heal him with chelation. It is a scary prospect, one that I never thought I'd consider... but if it can help bridge a gap I think I should at least look in to what is available. Even the 'naturals' can have side effects, but for some reason we are more tolerant of the risk/reality. I just haven't found anything that helps enough at this time, and his lack of focus is starting to affect his learning more and more as the curriculum grows (4th grade). He is progressing with chelation, but maybe I am being too stubborn and blinded by my distrust/distaste in medicine to realize some meds just might be of benefit? Ugh. What to do?? Just some thoughts. Pam (over 100 rounds DMSA/ALA for us) > > We took a break from all supplements this summer. Had a great summer, best one yet. Anyway.....slowly getting him back on everything, digestive enzymes, he asked for, all the usual supplements, probiotics. > > My husband is very upset because my son honestly could benefit from meds. He looks pretty typical in a class room, bright kid, social, very old soul, sweet gentle giant. No doubt lacks focus, unable to always follow directions, no desire to compete, do really good at something unless on his terms. That was my husband growing up, painful for him to see his son like him. Honestly, I'm sure he's better for what I'm doing but no wow factor here. We need the focus. He's going on 11. Any ideas on naturals. Last year I did a bottle of lithium, no wow factor there. Putting Gabba back in, once in a.m. 150 mg. Haven't started back up the creatine, will. Have him on 1000 mg Carlson Omega 3, Magnesium Malate 1000 mg. Anything else and how much? > > I don't want to medicate, now my husband and school will push to I'm sure Friday, I called an IEP meeting. Guest guest
At times when I've felt desperate I've thought about it too. I talked to a mom on autism one who's son was so violent that she had to put in a group home. Anything beats sending our kids away. It was very sad to hear her story. I tried to convince her to try the AC protocol, but I haven't heard back from her. I did send her a link to the group, so hopefully she is lurking. Do what you have to while you heal him. Guest guest
The attention I get now is because of a somewhat successful yeast protocol, probiotics at night, digestive enzymes/biotin/magnesium with meals. I give A also but in small amounts; my daughter now becomes too focused when given A. Guest guest
To add, it's great that you were able to take such a lenghty break from supps (you may end up being on the 100 end of the 100-300 round req) but you're only on #22 so continue to chelate. Also, check supps for anxiety.  S. > >From: Tammy Kuhn <tkuhn1@...> > >Sent: Wed, October 20, 2010 10:11:21 PM >Subject: [ ] good summer, bad school, HELP! > > >We took a break from all supplements this summer. Guest guest
Behaviors and lack of focus are either yeast or bacteria or yeast and bacteria for my son. > > We took a break from all supplements this summer. Guest guest
> We took a break from all supplements this summer. Had a great summer, best one yet. Don't add back any supplements. It sounds like he no longer needs them. I have eliminated all of my son's supplements, he no longer needs them. >>slowly getting him back on everything, digestive enzymes, he asked for, all the usual supplements, probiotics. This may be your problem. Try removing them all again. If he ASKED for something, then I would try keeping that. But remove everything else. Guest guest
There are supplements that help, check Onibasu, many are listed. None cure this, if there was a complete cure for focus about 3/4 of the people would never chelate. The cure is about 150-300 rounds of chelation. You need every bodily process to be online to get good attention. No way our kids are going to be able to do this as they only have 1/2 working on a good day. If it's any consolation, even when the meds do work, they peter out also, ask any aide, they will tell you, I have. Plus the meds stunt growth (tell your dh that) permanently, meaning they don't make up the height even when you take them off the meds, not to mention what they do to the heart. I've lost a couple of young patients to meds, when they put them on them and raise the dose to compensate for when they acclimate to them, heartbreaking. And we have no idea what these meds do to developing brains but the research I've seen would make me steer clear. Chelation doesn't work on the school's timetable, it works, but it works on it's own. Took us nearly 3 years of chelation to get perfect focus, but it's doable. [ ] good summer, bad school, HELP! We took a break from all supplements this summer. Had a great summer, best one yet.
