Guest guest
Hi , Has she been tested for galactosemia? My niece has classic galactosemia which is a genetic condition where the body cannot break down galactose and which can be life-threatening. Most states now test for it on the newborn screen, but not all, and I'm not sure what year states began including it in the screening. Did she tolerate breast milk? S S Re: research it is not casein your children are allergic too per se Posted by: " agirlnamedsuess21 " agirlnamedsuess@... agirlnamedsuess21 Thu Jun 17, 2010 1:26 pm (PDT) I know my IgE tested great within normal limits. The pulmonologist was actually surprised. When my eldest (no autism that I know of), now 24, was young, she got deathly ill from milk. I would always know when the relatives gave her milk because she would be sick the next day or two (HIGH fever-106, vomitting until she dry heaved or was throwing up bile, diarrhea, etc...) Sometimes the reaction was immediate; sometimes it was not. We were just told she had a milk allergy. She still has it to this day. My mother says she has it also (age 77). My other kids apparently do, even though the allergy tests come back negative, because when we removed casein, the allergic shiners disappeared. Guest guest
, All of my children tolerated breast milk well. She did not get tested,as far as I know, for galactosemia, which if she had would have caused brain damage (from all the relative infractions). She graduated with honors and as in AP classes. I had considered that when she was younger and I was in nursing school, but they (the instructors) doubted it because of no brain damage. She would have died by now with all those infractions; they really made her sick, but she did not die (almost, though). Actually, I think I asked, but no doctor was receptive (just saying she had a milk allergy). That would not account for my other children's milk allergies, though; she and my other 4 have different fathers. > > Hi , > Has she been tested for galactosemia?
