Went to the rheumatologist this morning regarding the severe back pain I've been having for 11 days now. He believes I either have an infection in my spine (which will mean several days in the hospital with an IV of antibiotics) or a compound fracture of the spine (which is what he thinks it is). That would mean surgery. :-( They are trying to arrange an MRI of my back (hopefully tomorrow or the next day) so they can find out for sure what it is. Will let you all know as soon as I know something. Pray it's an infection because back surgery is not something I'm a good candidate for.

Lesson here is NEVER take prednisone (which has destroyed my bone density).

The doc is also checking with Medicare regarding how much they will pay for Remicade infusions for the autoimmune diseases since the cost of Enbrel is out of the question. Should know something about that in a couple of days.
