Guest guest
They were talking about DMSA and the acidity. DMSA is susceptible to oxidation. ALA is more stable. I would still mix it up a dose at a time. What you are probably experiencing is a bout of yeast. Try boosting your protocol. We haven't made any changes to supplements or diet. We did miss 3 rounds of chelation due to vacation and very busy weekend schedules, but we started back 2 weeks ago without any big problems. I'm wondering about a few things: I mix ALA in juice, it is refrigerated during day but I haven't been keeping it cool at night, and it has been pretty hot here (esp since our AC is in the process of being repaired.) Does it need to be kept cool? Also, I have been mixing it with o.j. but just recently read that pineapple or lemon is better d/t acidity content. However, I have been using o.j. all along, and haven't had problems up until now. Last p.m. she was very upset that she couldn't fall asleep and had to keep getting up to urinate. Again, this has happened in the past, and she has been ruled out for urinary tract infections many times. Once she falls asleep she is fine. Sounds maybe like an adrenal issue, but I hate to add another supplement to the mix until I can figure out what has thrown her off. Does anyone have any thoughts/ideas/suggestions? We are just about at our wits end. Thanks
Guest guest
You hit the nail on the head- adrenals. ALA always put a lot of stress on the adrenals here. Moodiness and tantrums are the tell tale signs. Adrenal Cortex Extract, vitamin C, b complex and vitamin b5 are all helpful. I here you on the adding new supps thing- but adrenal supporting supps were and still are some of the most important we give our son. He is a happy boy with no tantrums and no sound sensitivity now as a result. As to the night time doses- we keep them on ice to keep them cool and we use oj also, without a problem. Guest guest
Thanks TJ and Irene. I have stopped this round today. I will bump up our yeast protocol a bit and see if that helps. Irene, I believe I have tried adrenal cortex in the past, but for some reason I thought it was activating (maybe the dose was too high). I am willing to try it again. I have Adrenal Cortex Natural Glandular that is 250mg capsules. She is a very sensitive reactor, so I was thinking about 1/4 capsule (or even smaller). Would I give that once/day (I remember mornings being better so as to not interfere with sleep). > > > > We are on round 30 of ALA chelation and having an especially bad time. 10 yo daughter is very moody, throwing tantrums like we haven't seen since starting chelation. Guest guest
How about an artichoke? The good stuff is in the middle and you get a little more good with each piece as you go > > > > > > We are on round 30 of ALA chelation and having an especially bad time. 10 yo daughter is very moody, throwing tantrums like we haven't seen since starting chelation. Guest guest
If ACE caused hyperactivity - then the dose you gave was too high- you can start with 1/4 cap or less - give it early in the day to start. We give divided doses throughout the day. No ACE later than 3 or 4pm or it will interfere with sleep. Needs vary greatly from child to child- my son has strong adrenal signs on his hair test and needs 5 capsules a day. But your child may just need 1/4 cap or less. Go low and slow. Guest guest
I gave her 1/4 capsule this morning, and she had a good day, overall. I will continue it for a few days and hope it wasn't just a fluke. Thanks so much for your help. > > > > > > > > We are on round 30 of ALA chelation and having an especially bad time. 10 yo daughter is very moody, throwing tantrums like we haven't seen since starting chelation. Guest guest
> Last p.m. she was very upset that she couldn't fall asleep and had to keep getting up to urinate. I had this problem personally. It meant yeast for me. Dana
Guest guest
I suspect it's at least partly a yeast problem. I just can't figure out why it spiked suddenly. Can warmer weather make yeast overgrowth worse? > > Last p.m. she was very upset that she couldn't fall asleep and had to keep getting up to urinate. > > > I had this problem personally. Can warmer weather make yeast overgrowth worse? Yes, for various reasons. For example, do you eat more fruit now? Once my son no longer needed certain supplements, they tended to make yeast spike. Several other issues. Dana
