Guest guest
TJ, Please explain why this is? I have seen TREMENDOUS improvements once I removed casein. (We were already GF and cannot go back to gluten becuase of digestion issues.) His SLP is even raving (one month now) and each time says, " That is the best he has ever done! " So, I am also giving Extra C (1 GFCF gummie, twice a day in addition to 2 gummies Multi-vitamin). His behavior changed DRASTICALLY overnight. I think we are on the right track, but I would like to know what gluten and casein have to do with metals? Guest guest
That's the whole point. My kids reacted very positively to a GFCF diet as well. They are both mercury toxic. Mercury, lead, and other metals effect the way the body functions. They effect mineral transport and the production of enzymes we need to digest and utilize many foods, including wheat and dairy. Of course you are on the right track, but changing his diet and giving supplements is not a fix - only a patch. I'm pointing out that you need to fix the root cause of the problem, heavy metal intoxication. I would suggest a hair test, applying the counting rules to the results. Guest guest
Counting Rules? If my son or me shows up not to be toxic or with any levels, then would ALA be necessary? Guest guest
Here is a link to the counting rules: (http://home. earthlink. net/~moriam/ HOW_TO_hair_ test.html) Most of us here follow the Andy Cutler protocol for chelation. Andy developed a way to read a hair test and determine mercury toxicity that he called the " Counting Rules " because you count the number of minerals that are in certain ranges. Please read in the files section and the link above. Guest guest
, with the DDI Hair Elements test you will be looking for evidence of heavy metal toxicity and not relying solely on the heavy metal levels themselves. Ratios of certain elements to one another, low/high levels of specific elements... a pattern. It can also point to other issues. pam > > > > > > If a child reacts well to the diet, it usually means mercury or other metals are causing a problem. > > > TJ > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > > From: DIANA <dmniemes@> > > > > > > Sent: Wed, June 23, 2010 2:43:15 PM > > > Subject: [ ] Moderate Autism Misdiagnosed or Denial?? > > > > > > Â > > > > > > I've posted various times about our son for the past 3 months. Guest guest
Thanks TJ. Very interesting. My mother has extremely high calcium, which I just thought was because she was prone to stones. So, if I am interpretting what I read correctly, then I just need to know my levels of calcium, magnesium, and (I forget the other one). Is that right? It does stand out to me something about calcium for me, but I think it was low. > > > > > > If a child reacts well to the diet, it usually means mercury or other metals are causing a problem. Guest guest
No, you need to get a hair test done from DDI and see if you meet any of the counting rules. There are five of them. Guest guest
Due to extremely limited funds, I have decided to chelate without testing. (ALA) Before giving anything to my children,I am going to take it myself and see what happens. Guest guest
don't feel bad or apprehensive about chelating with ALA without testing. I do worry about your amalgams, though. Watch for symptoms, no matter how slight. It can creep up on you... doesn't have to be a sudden 'hit by a truck' reaction. Happy chelating!
