Guest guest
Hi all, How to split the dmsa/ala for chelation? Put in drink once a day and feed a part each time? Does anyone have hard time feeding young kids in the night like us? Ricky
Guest guest
TJ, can I add DMSA/ALA in water for the whole day and take a part of it each time? Do I have to make it fresh each time? Thanks again. We use an oral syringe at night, with the chelator mixed in juice. Everyone has a hard time at first. The child gets used to it after a bit and barely wakes up. Guest guest
DMSA is vulnerable to oxidation. It needs to be in a acidic liquid, like lemon or pineapple juice. We mix ours up on a per dose basis. I have heard of people mixing it up in juice and then taking out an equal quantity each dose. Guest guest
Hi Ricky This is the same dose that i am doing with my son who weighs approx 35lbs, i did start off with 6 rounds of DMSA at 5mg, then after 6 rounds added in the ALA at 5mg, then did another 3 rounds with both together and then i increased both to 8.3mg. x From: rickyyu8888@... Is this too high? I know 1/8-1/2 of body weight (mg/kg) is recommended for each, but how about the two together? Ricky
Guest guest
That is a fine dose. Actually, you don't have to be so exact. I would have no problem rounding that up to 10mgs of DMSA and 10mgs of ALA if she has been tolerating the current dose well for several rounds. The 1/8-1/2 mg per POUND (not kg) is for each chelator, independently. Pam > > We are chelating our child following the AC protocol. She weighes 30 lbs. Guest guest
Yes, sounds OK. Ten rounds already without yeast and other issues so far. ________________________________ From: TJ Werth <tj_werth@...> Sent: Tue, October 5, 2010 4:51:47 PM Subject: Re: [ ] DMSA/ALA  We dose with equal amounts of both. Guest guest
Andy says that TD-DMSA probably doesn't work because DMSA is suceptible to oxidation. We do TD-ALA with our younger boy and we dose the same as oral, every three hours day and night. He is making progress. Guest guest
TJ, I might be making a big deal out of nothing here but...each time I give a dose, I put pineapple juice on a spoon and empty the DMSA and ALA on top of it and then give it to my daughter. I don't actually mix the chelators into the juice. They just lay on top of it. Is that ok or do I need to mix them into the juice? Also...what is TD ALA? We just give ALA from Kirkman's. Is TD ALA better? If so, why? Thanks, Emerson > > DMSA is vulnerable to oxidation. It needs to be in a acidic liquid, like lemon or pineapple juice. Guest guest
Mixed or not, no problem, as long as she swallows it. We mix it up in a small cup with apple juice and suck it up into an oral syringe. Any way to get it into the kid is good. It's only when you pre-mix and store for a little bit that you have to worry about the ph of the juice and all that. TD ALA is transdermal ALA. It's not better, actually oral is the best. We use kirkmans ALA to make it. We mix it with hand lotion and rub it on my younger boy every three hours. He has oral issues and won't accept an oral syringe. He won't use a spoon or fork either. Hopefully some more chelation and he will start using utensils and we can switch to oral.
