Guest guest
My son is 4, soon to be 5. We have been chelating him on the AC protocol since he was 3 1/2. He has a dx of PDD. We have done 75 rounds. We have been at 20 mg of DMSA and ALA for about six months. My son has weighed 40 lbs for quite a long time. We were getting great gains for a while, however before Christmas they started to wane, so we upped his dose to 22 mg at that time. He reacted really badly, so back to 20 mg we went, and have been there ever since. Again, the gains, particularly as they pertain to language have stalled. He has several hundred words, can communicate his wants and needs quite well. However, we cannot progress past 3 word sentences, and he still has auditory processing and expressive language issues. He recently gained about 2 lbs, so we were considering trying a 22 mg dose again, which is just a little bit beyond the 1/2 mg per lb of weight. However, this past weekend with the daylight savings time change, we discovered something interesting. We typically do a 2, 5, 8, 11 schedule, starting after school on Friday. So after changing the clocks, at one point I started dosing at 2 1/2 hour intervals so as to get back to our usual time schedule. With the shorter dosing intervals we got much more language on round, and a desire to engage in pretend play. In lieu of trying a higher dose, can we try more frequent dosing? What would the explanation be for this? Do some people do better with more frequent dosing? Thanks. Irene
