Guest guest
Hi, After a chelating break we are back at it, planning round three for this weekend. My DS is 10 yrs old, 130 lbs. For the first two rounds I've given 25 mg ALA and 50 mg DMSA, every 3 hours around the clock. He is tolerating this fine, although perhaps his yeast is increased a little bit. I see some glimmers of better eye contact and language, but no " wows " as yet. (And no one else but me, including speech therapist, has seen those glimmers.) Question: Should I increase the ALA to 37.5 mg? He has appeared to tolerate 37.5 mg ALA and 50 mg DMSA just fine in the past (I went lower with ALA because of our chelating break). Increasing ALA would bring us closer to the target dose of approximately 75 mg (1/2 mg. per pound body weight). TIA,
Guest guest
I think the goal would be for us if it was my child would be 50mg of each every three hours. The reason being that the caps come in this dose, or at least two 25mg caps. I would also look at a longer round in the summer months when he is out of school. We have seen bigger gains on longer rounds. Just got done doing six days " on " of a 6/8 round. We do 3 days on / 4 days off during the school year.
