Guest guest
I just started going through the screening process to take part in an investigational study about RA. For the time being, instead of taking my prescribed Naproxin for pain, I'm allowed to take over the counter Tylenol. Anyhow, it's my understanding that there'll be x amount of participents that will get something like 5 mg of the test drug, some will get 10 mg of the drug, so on and so forth and there'll be a percentage of participents that'll get a placebo. Plus, I need to track how much Tylenol I take throughout the day.Tomorrow morning, I'm schedueled to go in to continue the screening process (I think the screening process will take a couple of weeks.) I'm supposed to fast for 8 hours and I'm supposed to go 24 hours without taking pain reliever medicine. I'll probably soak in a hot tub tonight to help me sleep. I'm already paying for it in a way. I was having a good day yesterday and went mall walking, and now have some pain in my left hip and knee. That's life, I guess.I just wanted everyone to know I haven't gone for good and I did want to let everyone know how it's going for me.Love to all,.Susie

Guest guest
I just wanted to let everyone know that I didn't qualify for the first study. Apparently, after fasting for 8 hours and skipping taking any pain reliever for 24 hours I wasn't showing enough swelling points to qualify. While there was more than enough tender points to qualify I needed one more point to be swollen. Good for me, bad for the study. But, they do think I might qualify for another study. This study will take a minimum of 24 weeks (I forget how many times I have to go) and involves an infusion of a DMARD. I won't have to discontinue any prescription this drug would be an add on. I'm already on two DMARDs - methotrexate and plaquenil and the coordinator thinks that this study may be more approiate for me. Like the other study there will be a certain amount of participents that will get the to be named drug and some will get a placebo.Anyhow, I begin the screening process Monday. I hope I qualify. I'd like to find something that works for me. I'd give anything to be able to work again,Hugs,Susie
Guest guest
Hi Everyone!I just wanted to let everyone know I'm still here and I wanted to mention that I did not qualify for the second RA study I talked about a couple of weeks ago. My sed (?) rate level wasn't elevated enough. Which is a good thing, but I could have used the extra money. I guess I'm better off having my sed rate level be where it is. Maybe I can qualify for another study sometime. LOLSusie
Guest guest
Hi Susie, What state are you in? I live in VA and see a rheumy in DC who also practices in MD. I just saw him for my checkup today. His office is doing the a huge new study on Rituximab (sp?). My rheumy said this study is the one to make the FDA happy. I'm satisfied with my current regimen but it's exciting to see the possibilities on the horizon. Take care, Steph in VA ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Hi Everyone!I just wanted to let everyone know I'm still here and I wanted to mention that I did not qualify for the second RA study I talked about a couple of weeks ago.
