Guest guest
I would put your money into having your well water tested -- there are minerals in your well water that will be stripped by a good filter and need to be replaced. You may find you have an awesome, mineral-filled, highly alkaline (healing) water that you may not want to touch. Guest guest
I have heard many times that steam distilled water is best all around. Reverse osmosis water is the second best. You can get your water tested to see what's in it, then find a filter to remove those things. They have charts on the internet that compare filters and tell you which ones remove what things, with costs and other info. Just do a search on google. Guest guest
I agree. There's no such thing as the perfect water filter - each has its strengths and weaknesses. Which is to say that each type filters some contaminants but not others. You can't really choose one until you know what problem you're trying to solve. _____ > > I would put your money into having your well water tested -- there are minerals in your well water that will be stripped by a good filter and need to be replaced. Guest guest
I just went with this one: http://www.amazon.com/Berkey-Water-Filter-Filters-Fluoride/dp/B001AKTW2Q because I could get it with free filters that also get fluoride and arsenic. I got it new, on ebay, the same as is there at the Amazon link, for 228.00 free shipping (it said they only have a few more at that price). I had looked into getting my water tested, but was told I needed to test for each thing I was looking for ( & I didn't know what specifically I might need to be looking for)at about $20.00 per test. My girls' hair tests did just come back very high for arsenic, and I am a breast cancer patient, so I just wanted to get something done that would hopefully greatly improve our water without a lot of time and money required on my part (way short on both). I really researched options. I don't know if this is the perfect solution, but it seemed right for us. > > > > I would put your money into having your well water tested -- there are > minerals in your well water that will be stripped by a good filter and need > to be replaced.
