Guest guest
No he is not the only one, and it is a story that needs to be told, but I guess the majority of people doesn't like ugly reality stories but prefers buttered up versions of the truth. I can't tell you why your sone, or my daughter eat poop I can only share our experience. My youngest daughter used to eat poop, and smeared it all over herself, the carpet, walls, siblings when she was very yeasty. Usually this was when her body was (trying) to fight off some virus and when we gave her immune boosting treatments. When she was like that, and it could not be fixed quickly, she was dressed in a body (like a babies body) you can buy big sizes on the internet, so at least she cannot reach her poop easily. Our girls are on diets, multi-vitamins etc. no anti fungals though because our approach has been to crowd out the bad bugs with good bugs....we also use enzymes (candidase, virastop etc.) to keep the bad bugs at bay. It seems to work for my daughter cause since about a year I've caught her only once with poop in her hand....luckily I was just in time and she didn't repeat after that. ________________________________ From: maria.sigler1978 <maria.sigler1978@...> Sent: Mon, June 21, 2010 6:20:55 AM Subject: [ ] Why has my son started to eat poop? Guest guest
Just off the top of my head has he been tested for genetic metabolic type issues. I know my family has a thing called a MTHFR gene mutation, fairly common and they say that 10-15% of the Caucasian population carry it. It is basically a inability to use B vitamins and folic acid (synthetic for the most part I have found in my research is the problem ). So these people no matter how well they think they are eating are not getting enough B's... so the treat it with boat loads of B's and foliate. Seems to work So in a modern diet where much of our food is fortified we actually do worse than if we ate like we did 300 years ago. Meat and dairy and esp fermented dairy have great B's and very bioactive availability. Things like that are usually a culprit of hidden deficiencies ....not that you aren't providing a balanced diet.... but there are tons these types metabolic disorders. B vitamin therapy has gotten good results and statistically speaking autistics carru MTHFR more often then the rest of the population so maybe there is something there. I am just a mom thinking out loud [ ] Why has my son started to eat poop? Guest guest
I would visit the farm... get a feel do they treat the animals well, what are they feeding (I don't feed GMO or wheat or soy to my goats)... and try a qt or 1/2 gallon and I would let your kids tell you how fast and how to go. You will watch them ... follow your gut is my best advice. If you like the farmer and you feel in your gut a good vibe... buy if not... DON " T But the whole point is to keep it ALWAYS RAW, or you kill the enzymes and the proboscis and render it useless in bioactive availability. Besides now you have BAD casein from heat damage. The reason we thought dairy was bad in the 1st place. Remember as long as you get a good feeling about the cleanliness the farmer ..you like the taste ... remember god gave milk to all mammals and NO BREAST EVER CAME WITH A PASTURIZER. .... always taste first yourself before you give to your child, lol Google Louis Pasture and deathbed confession and you will be astonished at the germ theory we have been sold...oh wait you may not we are mostly anti vaccine parents lol really check it out. When a one of the most predominate modern scientist recants his life's work as a fraud ...on HIS DEATH BED we should listen !!! More than anything .... you have come this far on mothers intuition... FOLLOW IT. I feel uniquely places as someone who understood what they did to our milk because I have animals and what it did to us .. as I have an autistic son... Guest guest
If you follow the thread you will see I don't want to re do everything .. Basically what they are finding and was true in my house that people handle raw milk just fine and it is only Pasteurized adulterated dairy that is the problem. It's not the milk... it's not the kids... it's what we are doing to the milk ... My son was so sensitive to dairy that I could not even eat (pasteurized) dairy while I was nursing. I researched and tried raw cow milk and my kids did fine with it.. no issues at all. But OMG when I tried RAW goat milk it was the single biggest dietary part of s recovery... see the post and video of him NOW I would have thought no way in the world could my kids have dairy ... turns out it was just adulterated dairy... REAL milk was just fine.. now that I think about it if he really had a milk issue would he not be able to drink my milk? All the same components... I varying degrees Some people will actually show a IGG IGM IGE type antibody and they truly have a milk allergy... but that is very very rare. Most parents of autistics are shocked when the testing shows no dairy allergy because we SEE with our eyes what is happening ..but like I said its not the milk, or the kids, its what we did to the milk. Really look back and read last week's posts We have moms that are giving feedback that is really positive [ ] Why has my son started to eat poop? Guest guest
My kids were the same way when nursing. They were SICK SICK SICK and when i finally realized it was a milk " allergy " (test showed no allergy), I began to drink soy milk. Little did I know my son was also " allergic " to soy. Later, when I stopped nursing, I tried to give him milk based formula and he vomited all of it, even lactose free....even soy. I put him on goat's milk at 10 mo. and he started to improve and sleep thro the night (but this was commercial milk). At two, I put him back on cow's milk (commercial) thinking he had outgrown his allergy. Within on year he was forgetting words and starting to quit walking. He was having raging tempers. I didn't put two and two together until almost one year later. I put him on SCD and he had a drastic improvement. After reading sillychicken's post, we started raw goat's milk last week. My son woke up dry for the first time ever - the only time he had ever done this was when he was on colloidal silver for illness. My two year old daughter has had a yeast rash on her diaper area for over a year, ins pite of SCD. IT IS GONE! Do some research on the beneficial bacteria/PH levels/colostrum, etc. in raw goat's milk. If you try raw goat's milk and see bad symptoms at first - it could be horrible die-off. Even diarrhea could (most likely) be from horrible die - off. > > > > > > > My gut feeling is deficiency of some kind. > > > > Sounds like he wants to keep or regain nutrients being lost. Guest guest
Our stories sound the same, we should compile them and give them to Dr's so they look for patterns My kids have been very yeasty/ thrushy and we have had great results without a huge die off response(just us). I Maybe there is so many other bio available vitamins and minerals that it helps in their die off recovery.. maybe lessons it. Even if I get a loser stool on the raw milk (almost NEVER happens) it was just lose . it I was NOT the same old nasty dairy poop, it used to be a terrible PH , leave a rash , it smelled not human , and had tons of mucus. Now after my kids have had a decent amount of raw goat milk and raw goat milk colostrums their guts are in so good a shape we can " occasionally " have pasteurized dairy without issue as long as it is not on an empty tummy. But we have had a LOT of gut healing first and only occasionally for social stuff.. coach brings the whole T-ball team tonight for ice cream for example) From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of arabella5c Sent: Monday, June 21, 2010 9:32 PM Subject: [ ] Re: Why has my son started to eat poop? Guest guest
It makes sense. I'm sure he doesn't absorb nutrients well. He eats a lot and can't gain weight. Coincidentally I added Folic Acid this morning. I upped the Enzymes and the B6. I wonder how high I should go with the B6? Guest guest
He also had a normal allergy test, but a grastro doc ordered him to be off Dairy do to high IgE, but I hear so many good results with goat milk, that I will have to give it a try. Where does someone go to buy goat milk, besides the grocery store, because I've seen Goats milk there, but it's probably not raw. Guest guest
So when we talk about raw, what does this mean, not pasteurized? Is boiling ok, or does this kill the Enzymes too? Guest guest
I agree it's sound like deficiency/ malabsorption problem. Here's good info on malasorption syndromes.. perhaps a GI doctor can help http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/931041-overview Eating poop in animals is a sign of maldigestion/ malabsorption caused by a condition known as Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency which can also occur in humans http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+2103 & aid=331 hth, > > > > > > > > > > > My gut feeling is deficiency of some kind. > > > > > > Sounds like he wants to keep or regain nutrients > being lost. Guest guest
Hi, in our case it was a mineral deficiency and overload of all toxic metals.. Once we started chelating and supplementing with minerals, this behavior disappeared.. I hope this helps. Corinne _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of maria.sigler1978 Sent: Monday, June 21, 2010 12:21 AM Subject: [ ] Why has my son started to eat poop? Can anyone help? My son has recently started to eat his own poop. I have researched on the internet and found very little, except that it's called Coprophagia, and it's the ugliest word I have ever come across. He has autism and though he was diagnosed a decade ago and I thought I knew so much about this disorder I didn't know this could be part of it. I'm at a loss.....I've taken him to the doctor and found no help there. This is the dark side of Autism, that no one warns you about, nor talks about. Why not tell the story and help others. I can't imagine he is the only one. I thought for sure some blog somewhere would have mentioned it or some first hand account, but I found nothing. What I did find was very brief and vague. I don't want to think that this is what it's going to be like for him for the rest of his life. He is an SCD, gfcf, no sugar, antifungals, multivitamins, etc. If anyone knows someone who is having this problem, please put them in contact with me.
