Guest guest
I would be concerned about bathing in the water. WE use an indiv filter on our shower head and just fill the tub that way. You can get them as low as $20 from homedepot. Jess ________________________________ From: mosaictm <sunshine369@...> Sent: Sat, January 16, 2010 9:18:16 PM Subject: [ ] Fluoride in the water? We are building a new home and moving in the next 2 months or so, and I recently found out the town we are moving to fluoridates their water supply. Of course, (as we do now, though our current water is not fluoridated) we will use a filter for drinking water. My concern is this: should I be very concerned about my son bathing in this water? Do I need to have a whole house filter installed? Any input appreciated.
Guest guest
The best system is reverse osmosis. Showerhead and other filters only do chlorine, not fluoride. There have been reports of inline filters for fluoride, but with poor ratings. Most will state one cannot use a filter. mercola.com claims to have a fluoride filter, I have no idea if its good or works. I would be concerned, definitely. Fluoride is highly toxic. Guest guest
I just have an RO system in the kitchen for drinking/cooking. I had a kdf filter in the bathroom, but they don't last long. Whole house systems seem very overwhelming. From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Bruce Sent: Sunday, January 17, 2010 12:59 PM Subject: Re: [ ] Re: Fluoride in the water? Any good reverse osmosis system will remove these. Bruce ----- Original Message ----- From: olivia Hi , this system is recommended on Dana's View. I looked into it a while back. The owner/engineer of this company is extremely knowledgeable on the subject and has designed a unique system which is used around the world. It's expensive but is what I would buy if I could afford it! At the time, it was one of the few one unit systems that removed fluoride as well as everything else. Guest guest
The one I just ordered can be obtained with a free filter (as a bonus) that filters both fluoride and arsenic. The main 2 filters do most other things. I got it for 228.00 on ebay, new. It's just for drinking water, but they also sell shower filters, etc. It's called Big Berkey: http://www.berkeywater.com/start.main.html The fluoride/arsenic filters: http://www.berkeywater.com/start.main.html > > There are very few, very expensive filter systems that remove fluoride, most don't. > S S > > Fluoride in the water? > Posted by: " mosaictm " sunshine369@... mosaictm > Sat Jan 16, 2010 6:18 pm (PST) > > We are building a new home and moving in the next 2 months or so, and I recently found out the town we are moving to fluoridates their water supply. Guest guest
Jess- this type of filter generally does not remove flouride. Flouride passes through most carbon type filters. > > I would be concerned about bathing in the water. WE use an indiv filter on our shower head and just fill the tub that way. Guest guest
Unfortunately, we haven't invested in one that removes fluoride. I haven't been able to convince my husband not to use fluoride toothpaste (he has good teeth, I have terrible teeth, so that doesn't help my argument). We have a GE whole house and water for drinking and cooking also goes through a Pur pitcher filter. S S Re: Fluoride in the water? Posted by: " diamond12345@... " diamond12345@... diamond12345@...
