Guest guest
Frantz We are in Texas, and yes we can make good coconut milk from our Omega 8005 juicer. The meat after it has been squeezed is really so very dry that i even tried to eat it to find if there is at least any moisture in it and found out it did not have moisture anymore. We used it for cooking, but took a tablespoon or two before using the stuff in our recipes.

Guest guest
The first pressed milk is pure, no water added. The subsequent two presses have some- very little - water added to it. This is only for cooking purposes. When my hubby makes vco, we never add water. We use pure coconut milk that is why our oil is so potent. It would turn out very expensive. We use like 120 nuts to make a kilo of oil. We are only able to do this " luxury " because my husband's family has some small coconut plantation. May i say here that when you have a cold, cough, take a tablespoon of vco with 1/4-1/2 tsp turmeric powder and this would help you kick out the cold/cough fast. I just found out about this. I took a fresh (from frozen leaves) moringa oleifera/drumstick/ malunggay leaves tea at the same time. In an hour and a half the runny nose disappeared. Guest guest
When we can get coconuts we make our own, by getting the coconut out. putting it throgh our kitchen aid food processor and add water. then put it through a cloth bag. similar to cheese cloth. I bought a few of these in 2006. look on ebay for a nutmilk bag. Shalom Coconut Milk Hi I use Coconut Milk for everything that would cal for regular Dairy Milk except for Kefir, . I use canned Organic Coconut Milk. It comes in aluminum cans something I would like to stay away from. Making my own Coconut Milk would be very time-consuming for me. I have tried the Tropical Traditions Coconut Cream Concentrate and love it but it does not make the creamy, thick coconut milk I have come to love, rather a watery although good " milk " . What are the Alternatives? I have access to both young and matures Coconut, where I live. Has someone made Coconut Milk with a juicer.. What are the most effective method to prepare Coconut Milk? Recipes... tricks, etc Thanks in advance Frantz P.S. For a really delicious Treat , try a Tablespoon of Coconut Cream Concentrate in a cup of Hot Ginger Tea...!! --------------------------------- Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. I'm working > on diabetes and weight loss I don't see why you couldn't use it instead of VCO for weight loss. You'd probably have to use more of its volume than the oil. It is one of about two canned foods that are recommended by the Weston Price Foundation. This question might better be left to someone like Dr. Fife or one of our resident growers of coconuts. I don't mind the taste/feel of coconut oil going down in the morning. I know it's going to give me a quick boost; " When absorbed, the medium-chain fatty acids in coconut oil gives quick energy. " I also know that if I dose 2-4T. after breakfast I'm not going to go grazing at 9:30am - and I don't have to eat a huge lunch to satisfy me. If you can get those things from the milk ... Have you tried melting it a cup of tea and adding a drop of peppermint oil or something? Cutting grains and filling up on healthy fats from soaked/dehydrated nuts, raw cream and butter, grassfed beef also helps me keep my blood sugar in check. -vanessa .... yes, I eat eggs fried in bacon fat
Guest guest
I would advise staying away from the canned coconut milk from Asian markets because of all the chemicals in it. Wilderness Family Naturals sells good coconut milk. There are probably other brands as well. Guest guest
From the book, The Coconut Oil Miracle, there is a chart of the recommended daily doses of coconut products, for optimum health. These quantities provide the same amount of medium chain fatty acids. So, 10 ounces of coconut milk is the same as having 3 1/2 tablespoons of the oil. 3 1/2 tablespoons pure coconut oil 7ounces fresh coconut meat (about half a coconut) 2 3/4 cups dried, shredded coconut 10 ounces coconut milk Coconut Milk So I'm not real fond of VCO but I do like the milk. Has anyone had healthy changes by using the milk in place of the oil? I'm working on diabetes and weight loss and just started on the coconut milk. It is very thick and contains 17 grams of fat. The oil contains 14 grams of fat per serving.

Coconut milk and raw coconut contain too much natural sugars, so they aren't included. Bee

Guest guest
Hi. Have you tried canned coconut milk? I have tried several brands - some are better than others. Some you have to be careful of, like the Pride brand which is Hydrogenated. Makes it creamy but it is not good to use. By far the best is when I make it fresh. I drain the coconut, crack it open and remove the flesh (check that it is fresh as I have been caught out by some in the past). Pop it into a strong blender or processor and chop it up fairly finely. No need to remove the outer brown 'skin'. Add 2 or three good sized cups of hot, but not boiling water and whizz it for a few minutes. Place a strainer or sieve over a bowl and line it with muslin or a fine nylon mesh bag. Let it drain for a bit and gently 'open it up'; to let it cool some, then draw the bag around it and give it a good squeeze. Doing this process once will give you a creamy mix but less of it - I usually do it twice and still enjoy it. The more you do it the better you will be able to judge how much water you prefer to be added to it. I find that one coconut gives me a good liter of milk and it keeps for about three days in the fridge (not that it lasts that long!). It is a bit fiddly but very enjoyable, and at least by doing it yourself you know that nothing nasty has been done, or added to to it! Guest guest
Hi. Yes, I've tried several brands. It's been years now but I didn't find anything that didn't have a bad taste that I thought spoiled the tea. Thanks for those instructions. When I buy a coconut, I will try it. But it just seems like a lot of work that wouldn't last much time at all. (I do use it on oatmeal too). I did buy some shredded coconut since I sent my question so maybe I could try that first. I will let you know how it turns out. Thanks a lot, Hi. Have you tried canned coconut milk? I have tried several brands - some are better than others. Guest guest
I have to admit I have never tried it in tea - I don't drink it, but when I do have it I drink it as a hot chocolate and now think that the drink tastes funny without it. Guest guest
I have been using Lite Coconut milk for about a week now on my son's breakfast..Yesterday I used a different brand, but this one had a much thicker consistency and went even thicker(almost gluggy) whilst in the fridge, and had to be stirre through his breakfast, whereas the other brand had the consistency of normal milk.. Is this common?...the use by date is 2012 so its not off...I think it said on the tin it was 84% coconut?..not sure as it's been thrown out now..but I'm pretty sure the first coconut milk was only 25%...Not sure which brand to use or whether using the thicker consistency one is better or not...Any help much appreciated. Guest guest
We use " So Delicious " brand of Coconut milk. It comes in a carton in the fridge section. I found it at Kroger but just moved so the only store that carries it in our new city is Whole foods (so far as I know). They have several kinds. Try it! I hate anything out of a can!
