Guest guest
I will add to this drinking at least 64 ozs of water a day to flush out impurities as you loose weight, NO soda, limit cafferine as it tends to make you hold on to water. Beware of hidden sugars!! I am also on a modified Atkins of such...I eat no more than 4-8 ozs per meal and of each meal 60% is protein and 40% is veggies/fruit. If I am still hungry I add a bit of starch. Keep in mind I am a post op surgical weight loss patient (lapband). I also use a good quality protein suppliment which can be purchased at health food store. Every says eat lots of fruit and veggies...but without protein the building blocks of muscle you will not go anywhere...not to mention it requires far more energy to break down protein than most veggies. And the big thing is EXERCISE. You must be getting some sort of regular daily exercise...even it all you can do is laps in the grocery store. Keep in mind if your body is not using the food you take in as energy then you will also store it as fat. You have to run your body at a deficient to make it loose weight...but you you eat too little you go into starvation mode and can actually gain weight. If you are eating too much and not exercising enough you will either stand still or gain once again. Also of you are on a plateau with diet, along with re-accessing what you are eating quanities and portions, also look at the variety. You may also need to change you exercise routine, either by the type, time or quanity. Toni in Texas In a message dated 10/6/2005 11:16:39 A.M. When the body gets food often it utilizes the food and gets rid of it but feeding the body once a day causes it to hold onto what calories it recieves and store them. To improve your bodies metabolism try eating 3 - 5 small portions per day with mostly fruit and veggies. You'll notice a remarkable change. Hi - I have to tell you that while I have RA I also am being treated for internal adhesion disorder from previous surgery and hyperthyroid. For some odd reason, my thyroid is under control and I am gaining weight. I eat only one meal a day and that is extremely healthy, usually some honey wheat bread and butter, a salad or greens in a very small portion and a sweet potato. I think if your RA is under control and atkins works for you, than keep at it. Personally, any diet that has controlled portions is a good idea. Its a great discipline. If you should plateau and cant lose anymore than you can reassess your diet plan. Eating fruits and veggies and little meals works for most people. Good Luck and great about your Ritux results.
