Guest guest
What dose? What other ingredients are in it? I presume he has NO mercury amalgam dental fillings. S S help legs numb Posted by: " s " iferstevens@... iferstevens Thu Jan 21, 2010 3:49 am (PST) Hello, My son finished his third round of ALA only AC chelation on Tuesday (12mg of a liquid ALA brand named " Life Solutions. " ) Last night he said his legs were " cold " . With a little probing, I was able to help him understand what he means is numb. This morning it is not better. Now he says his mouth feels numb too and he is very tired. Does anybody know why this is happening? We followed the every 3 hours during the day, 4 when sleeping at night. I was convinced to try this again by the reports of how safe it is and how many children are " recovered " or " mostly recovered " . Guest guest
Jen, The sensation in the legs sounds like peripheral neuropathy. I've never heard of this affecting the mouth area though, but the tingling & numbness is a symptom of peripheral neuropathy which is usually felt in the hands, feet, legs & arms. Is your son taking B6? I've read that too much B6 can cause these symptoms. How much does your son weigh? Perhaps the ALA dose is too high so I would suggest lowering it to the low end of the range that Andy recommends since you're starting out. I've read that fish oil can help with neuropathy and Andy also recommends Vit E. My DD used to get tingling & numbness in some limbs at the outset of chelation. I used to get it regularly as well before I started chelating. It's gone away for my DD and it's much better for me as well. How is your son now? Are the symptoms gone? Perhaps you can talk about his other symptoms & supplements so others can give more input. > > Hello, > My son finished his third round of ALA only AC chelation on Tuesday (12mg of a liquid ALA brand named " Life Solutions. Guest guest
The numbness was one of the first symptoms to disappear for my d w chelation.I would be tempted to try a 'low and slow' round of DMSA. No amalgams, root canals, mercury hiding under stainless steel or other caps on teeth - right? > > What dose? What other ingredients are in it? Too much B6 can cause peripheral neuropathy, but too little at my house caused a feeling of " pinched nerves " in the hips and shoulders, and subsequent numbness down the affected limb. It wasn't related to chelation here. Dana
Guest guest
If you have already received this message, I apologize for the repeat. When this happened to my son, Andy suggested EFAs and lower the dose. I would also suggest taking at least a two week break to let this resolve. > > Hello, > My son finished his third round of ALA only AC chelation on Tuesday (12mg of a liquid ALA brand named " Life Solutions. Guest guest
You know for most of my life,I have had episodes of numbness and tingling inside my cranium. They have always been fleeting, but since I started on the chelation and MB12,they have gotten more frequent.I had always thought it was related to the meningitis, that triggered my autism as a baby. > > > > Hello, > > My son finished his third round of ALA only AC chelation on Tuesday (12mg of a liquid ALA brand named " Life Solutions. Guest guest
No, I specifically changed dentists when my son had cavities so that he would not get amalgams. The two teeth that had cavaties filled were baby teeth in the back. They fell out a few years ago. He does say he feels better now, but then he went to take a nap. This really scared me. My mother has MS and she has numbness in her legs sometimes. It was episodic and not too progressive until the last few years. She has amalgams that I wish she would remove, but she is 70. I think the risk might outweigh the benefit. We do have quite a few supplements that have B6 as another ingredient in them. I will stop all that until I can figure this out. > > > > What dose? Guest guest
He said his mouth felt " blah. " I asked if he was having any trouble talking and he said no. He was able to walk too, but was reluctant to do it, complaining verbally about his legs. > > > > > > Hello, > > > My son finished his third round of ALA only AC chelation on Tuesday (12mg of a liquid ALA brand named " Life Solutions. Guest guest
I don't know, he was pretty much nonverbal at the time. His symptoms were kicking and stomping his feet and he was also biting his hand/fingers a lot at the same time. Andy said it sounded like peripheral neuropathy or more specifically stocking and glove parasthesia (mercury symptom). So whether his feet were numb or not, I couldn't give you an answer, but my father-in-law was getting a little angry at the time because he was " stomping all his plants flat " . We would also go to my older son's football games and he would kick the weeds in the grass nonstop the whole time. Sometimes when it was real bad, he would jump up and land on his feet as hard as he could (bent down)...it was very disturbing to him whatever it was. Guest guest
I had numbness - mostly feet and fingers as part of the first couple of round side effects - I used extra B12 and B6. Maybe also google around calcium and numbness - calcium is more typically associated with numbness around the lips and tongue. (I was only using 3.25mg DMSA on the frequent dosing schedule and couldn't finish the first few rounds because of fatigue.) Guest guest
When my son complained knee numb(always in the evening), I gave him a hot bath with epson salt. Soaked his whole body for 20 minutes. His numbness would gone. His case has nothing to do with chelation, but you can try this to get rid of the knee numb. > > Hello, > My son finished his third round of ALA only AC chelation on Tuesday (12mg of a liquid ALA brand named " Life Solutions.
