Guest guest
I am so excited! I just got a call from my rheumy's office and I was approved for the drug study for abatacept and I get my first infusion tomorrow. They said I can't take any pain killers for 12 hours prior to the infusion and not to expect too much immediate relief afterwards. The first infusion is only a partial dose, to make sure your body doesn't react poorly to the meds, and then you get your second infusion 2 weeks later. At some point, you go into the regular schedule of monthly infusions. I am holding out really high hopes for this new medicine, because the pain has just been so horrible since the Enbrel / MTX combination stopped working. I will still be taking MTX during this study. Thanks for the support and I will keep you posted, Miriam
