Guest guest
The dose is too high. The dose range is 1/8 to 1/2 mg/lb, starting at the low end and only increasing when there are no more side effects at that dose. For 110 lb the starting dose would be about 14 mg per dose. Stop the round and start the next round at the lower dose. If there are still side effects at that dose then the dose must be lowered further. Guest guest
Thanks for your replies, and Dana. No recent vaccines (since age 2) and no amalgams. Started with DMSA that was a disaster, became what I call " unbelievably quirky " and the sensory issues were out of control. Holding ears for the first time in 8 years. Went back to ALA but because of size/weight and the 1/4mg instructions I believed 50mg was the correct dosage. Immediately that yeasty thing above the top lip started so I doubled the Candex and removed all gluten from the diet (he is not GC sensitive). Appears to be getting worse in stead of better. Is this temporary or something I 'm missing??? Last porphyrin test showed very low urine mercury but also low viral level. He had two warts, used OLE for two months, warts are gone.  No other viral signs are visible.  Thanks in advance for everyones help.  Cathi From: Shepard Salzer <_Shepard@...> Subject: [ ] Re: ALA Chelation - Seems to be getting worse? autism treatment Date: Monday, January 25, 2010, 7:41 AM  Reduce dose by half and see if that helps. Guest guest
Do you have all the required supplements in place? From what I've read, if things get worse it's a sign of metals on the move. You may need to lower the dosage, Andy recommends starting at 1/8 to 1/2 mg per pound of weight. For a person who weighs 110 lbs, 1/8 is 13.75 mg. Guest guest
I would agree with this. Use a 1/2 a 25mg cap for ease of use and you can move up from there. Getting such a major reaction just tells you there is a major toxic problem. - One thing is the metals moving, the body's reaction to that. - The other thing is the metals are moving through the gut, which will kill the " good " bacteria and leave room for yeast overgrowth. You also need to be giving lots of antioxidants at the very minimum. Lots of vitamin C and E. Don't give up on chelation, just lower the dose, check your supporting supps, and treat yeast. Guest guest
Candex may not be enough. If you drop the dose of ala and still see yeast problems consider adding an antifungal. Jan >
Guest guest
TJ & others, Can you safely split a capsule of ALA? Is the ingredient spread evenly throughout the capsule? I have an 18yr old and am having the same reaction to round 4 of 50mg ALA. My son weighs approx 200 lbs. I am using twinlabs ALA. Thanks, Alice > > This is 4th round of ALA chelation, child is 110#'s, 5 feet tall. 11 years old Using 50mg ALA every 3 hours. > > Seems like he is getting worse. Guest guest
I would think so. 1/8mg for a 200 pound person is 25mg, You can get ALA in 25mg capsules from Kirkmans. Guest guest
We split the caps all the time. Just eyeball it, or if you want to be precise dump it out and split it into two piles. Mixes good with apple juice. TJ ________________________________ From: ajrbcr2001 <ajrbcr2001@...> Sent: Mon, January 25, 2010 1:09:32 PM Subject: [ ] Re: ALA Chelation - Seems to be getting worse? It sounds like Candex is not sufficient to control the yeast. Try adding biotin or GSE or OoO or something like that. Dana

Guest guest
Added GSE at the end of the round. And doubled the Candex. Next weekend we'll go down to 25 mg ALA and keep the yeast protocol where it's at. Absolutely don't want to give up! Thank you all for your suggestions and support.  best, Cathi From: TJ Werth <tj_werth@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Re: ALA Chelation - Seems to be getting worse?
