Guest guest
This is terrible!!! I only have 1 bottle...let's stack on ALA, one can guess that it might be their next move.... They are definitely cutting down options on supplements, I have read this has been discussed by congress-several times- and bills come and go trying to restrict our access to supps. This is scary. Isa Enviado desde mi oficina móvil BlackBerry® de Telcel [ ] Call from Kirkman Labs about DMSA/Succinic Acid Hi all, Perhaps this is old news, but today I got a call from Kirkman Labs, telling me they are no longer allowed to sell succinic acid without a prescription due to recent FDA rulings. Effective immediately, she says. First, could we buy DMSA from Kirkman without a scrip? Second, does this affect VRP.COM? Thanks, Pam

Guest guest
I ordered some from VRP today, got 30% off from a coupon they advertised on site. ALA is not likely going anywhere as it is found naturally occurring in foods so the FDA allows it to be labeled a dietary supplement. Also ALA and DMSA wil always be available from overseas or a neighboring country. Funny Kirkman caves to the FDA quickly but won't pay for testing or good ingredients so te vitamins don't contain antimony. > > Hi all, > > Perhaps this is old news, but today I got a call from Kirkman Labs, telling me they are no longer allowed to sell succinic acid without a prescription due to recent FDA rulings. Guest guest
Kirkman might fall under a different category than VRP.com and thus have to comply with the ruling. I don't know at this point. I'm going to contact vrp.com to ask. pam > > This is terrible!!! I only have 1 bottle...let's stack on ALA, one can guess that it might be their next move.... Guest guest
TJ I disagree as the FDA recently cracked down on chelation products marketed at autism. I have no doubt the FDA will target DMSA. > > > > > > This is terrible!!! I only have 1 bottle...let's stack on ALA, one can guess > >that it might be their next move.... Guest guest
Are you speaking of DMSA or succinic acid?? I know that they are two very different products. Allergy Research Group, I thought, was one of the few companies that produced Succinic acid. I would call VRP.com...they are good about answering questions.. hth Ronni > > Hi all, > > Perhaps this is old news, but today I got a call from Kirkman Labs, telling me they are no longer allowed to sell succinic acid without a prescription due to recent FDA rulings. Guest guest
Hi Pam, We have been chelating for 2 years and have never been able to purchase DMSA from Kirkman's due to this policy. With VRP, It's been back and forth; I believe at one point last year, VRP said the FDA ruled that they could not sell DMSA anymore and were just going to sell their remaining stock then sell no more. Of course, everyone bought loads of DMSA (including me) to stock up on.  VRP is still selling it without a Rx today, thankfully. (Hmm, I'm pretty sure that was VRP.) Guest guest
Point being, this is not a new policy with Kirkman and I don't want to say " don't rush to buy loads of DMSA in fear that it will not be available anymore " because you never know but this was done last year by VRP and they made a killing from all of the people that stocked up on DMSA from fear (put out there by VRP that they were told to stop selling without Rx so decided to not sell at all) that DMSA would not be available through them anymore. This came up in i believe June '09; i found one of my old posts: > > > > I just spoke with VRP concerning DMSA. I believe most on here know that they >will stop selling DMSA by the end of the year. Guest guest
Both. They said both DMSA and Succinic acid will no longer be available without a prescription. I got a call from THEM; without any initiation on my part. They were contacting all who had purchased it in the recent past, I guess. Guest guest
Well, that is what I was wondering; what FDA ruling? The woman who called me obviously was just the messenger. All she was able to tell me was the they were complying with the ruling immediately. I don't know if this was a ruling made this week, last month or a few years ago! I ordered DMSA from Kirkman last about 6 months ago. It was a prescription. It was also my impression that I needed a prescription, and it had been this way for a few years. So, that is why I asked the question here. I ordered 6 bottles from vrp.com last month and I plan on continuing to do so until they tell me I cannot. In the past 6 months, Kirkman switched from the DMSA to the succinic acid. I thought that was to circumvent an FDA ruling... and that was with a prescription. I suppose this is a non-issue at this point and I hope it stays that way.
