Guest guest
Impossible question to answer. Nobody reveals anything close a recovery rate. You will hear good/bad about all DAN!. Personally, and don't take this the wrong way... I think your expectations are too high and you will be greatly disappointed. Sounds like you expect them to 'fix it', and you can do that more cheaply, safely, and easily yourself. If you need a DAN! doctor, I would find a reasonable one close to home and use them for consultation only while following a non-DAN! protocol. Sorry, I'm feeling blunt today. Having a tough one. Pam FYI: I've used Dr. Steinberg (Bellingham, WA), Dr. Usman (Chicago) and I currently see Dr. Brown (lin, WI). All are extremely good people but I don't follow the DAN! protocol. > > Who do you think is the best? I want to take my son and it doesn't matter how far. Dr. Megson? Rossignol? Others?? Guest guest
Hi Pam, sorry to butt in, but the subject caught my attn. and then I just had to ask you, why do you see the DAN! drs.? I understand why you don't follow the protocol, but I am very interested in what the benefits are for you to see them anyways? I am on a bare minimum supplement list for my son right now, and don't follow a set protocol with anyone, at the moment. I felt overwhelmed trying to follow the many different , including this one, and figure out which protocol would be best for my son. I am going to unsubscribe to a few of them, so I don't have to massive delete messages everynight because I can't take the time needed to read them all. But after I read Andy's post, responding to Dr. Boyd Haley's comments, I am really impressed with his knowledge and blown away by the research involved with identifying the differences between chelator and antioxidants. I have been really nervous to follow the AC protocol, with the dmsa and ala. And the past few times, I have tried to order the products, I have been disappointed with out of stock or some other glitch that prevents me from moving forward with chelation. My son is six, and I feel like he is healthy enough that chelation wouldn't cause him harm. Plus I have the proper multivitamins to restore his balance, after the rounds. I think I understand that the first step is the hair test to determine the metal levels, which are ordered from Direct Lab? I am sorry to use your post to explore these questions, I just liked your directness and am wondering what your method to the madness actually is? Thank you already, for listening, Heidi Mahler
Guest guest
Heidi, I see a DAN! for the help with medical stuff. I grew up in a medical family, I married a medical person, and it is just a comfort thing for me. I use the MD for prescriptions (currently the DMSA and Creon). It also gives me some legitimacy with my MD husband (non believer). I probably spend $500/year on office visits. I don't do any of the latest DAN! Think Tank things like biofilm, HBOT, etc. I go 2 times a year. I do find him helpful at times with GI problems. Adding Creon (his idea; digestive enzyme) has made a huge difference in eating and healthy weight gain. Annual blood draws to monitor basic health markers (CBC, metabolic panel, zinc/copper) since I chelate. Things like that. This can all be done without a DAN! and I know that very well. I just like having him around for support and encouragement. It has taken me several tries to find someone I 'click' with and I'm very grateful! Dr. Brown at the A.R.C.H. Treatment Center if anyone is curious. Great guy. Very, very willing to let me chelate how I want with what I want. He tells me he doesn't think the AC protocol is necessary (overly conservative) but totally respects my decision to do so. I know others think I shouldn't even support someone who puts kids at risk with dangerous chelation protocols, but honestly this is how I feel comfortable handling our recovery and I'm sticking to it. Hope that answers your questions. Pam > > Hi Pam, > sorry to butt in, but the subject caught my attn. and then I just had to ask you, why do you see the DAN! drs.? Guest guest
Hi Pam, that was definitely helpful and makes a good deal of sense to me, especially blood tests. I haven't heard of the Creon, so that is interesting to me, I wanted to try some new enzymes so maybe I'll consider these. Thank you for sharing. Guest guest
I like Dr. Layton in Townson, land. Some of his office staff is not the friendliest, but it is a really busy practice so I think it is just a matter of being busy. The nurses are great. If you come in educated, with a very good explanation of your child's individual symptoms, he will listen and treat accordingly. That is why I like him. He doesn't try to make your kid fit his protocol. I didn't feel like he wanted to run irrelevant tests, just ones that actually do apply to your child. Of the three DANS we saw, I felt they all helped, but Layton was the one that I would continue to see if I could afford to do so. As I say that, I feel I should point out that all three of these doctors cut me breaks with office visit fees so that I could continue to treat my son as long as I did. Dr. Megson agreed to treat three children for the price of one. One of my former students was the middle child of three kids with autism from a single parent family. Dr. Megson is helping that family. > > Hi Pam, > that was definitely helpful and makes a good deal of sense to me, especially blood tests. > I haven't heard of the Creon, so that is interesting to me, I wanted to try some new enzymes so maybe I'll consider these. > Thank you for sharing. > Heidi > > > > > >
Guest guest
Most of these DAN! doctors are very kind, compassionate, and willing to cut people financial breaks, but *what* they are doing is the issue to a lot of members on this list. When you've been run over and ignored by the mainstream medical practices it feels really good to be listened to and believed. DAN! doctors fill that bill. Guest guest
Has anybody else run into a problem where, after all the biomed, chelation, and diet, the autism is going away, but you still have all the GI,immune, and methylation/metabolic issues ? What do you do in such a case, where your DAN! has no idea what to do,and will not help you get into see a more qualified specialist ?
