Guest guest
Dear all: I'm preparing to send in our first hair elements test. I know it's DSL labs, but don't know much else about which test to take and what is best practice here. Which test do I order? Any experience/suggestions/advice on what tests/how to harvest. What are the guidelines? We're interested in heavy metals. DS has chromosomal issues--trisomy 21--but I'm seeing that it's basically the same heavy metal chelation as for autism that we need to do. I know someone here had a website discussing which hair test/why/how to, but I can't find it again. I have hair from birth to 1 yr, hair from 16 mos, and my hair from about 6 mos ago and now. Was thinking of testing the baby's birth hair and another test for his current hair. He had pre-birth exposure to weed killer, which was where stuff happened (the college next to our wall sprayed weed killer along our wall prob the days around conception), so I think it'd be worth checking to see where we're at from where we were. We've done a lot of biomed since birth. wd be interested to hear from other DS mommies and daddies on this group--I know those of us doing alternative protocols tend to go under the radar. Just wondering if there's someone out there doing similar stuff to us. I figure I don't really think it'd be that necessary to test my hair from 6 mos ago--I just want to know where I'm at now. We're not done breastfeeding. So still waiting on chelation till I'm done bfeeding. Baby showing no signs of stopping, and has lots of food sensitivities, so hard to transition to solids. We're about to start with enzymes (we've been doing a homeopathic enzyme liquescence, which hasn't been working that well). Not sure I need any more suggestions about introducing solids--we've tried everything and have fallen back every time on raw smoothies. Baby loves that juicer. He is a self-selected raw foodist--green smoothies with hemp seeds and fish oil are his food of choice. Not much else and he's v sensitive to all types of food. We've got a number of identified allergens/reactive foods, we're GFCF, Corn free, shellfish free. Reading the enzyme results of others with interest. Using Gluten Defense myself, and it works super well, along with probiotics. Done a long homeopathic yeast cleanse for me and bambino. Worked great, but horrid healing reactions. We're at point now where my digestion is fantastic on the gluten defense and probiotics, but bambino is still touch and go. If he has even a tiny exposure to something, he cd be constipated for a coupla days. For 9 mos I did the TED and his digestion was fantastic when I ate nothing but basically sweet potatoes, coconut oil, sardines, lamb, and pears. Best wishes, Fiona
Guest guest
Fiona, The recommended lab would be Doctor's Data and their Hair Element Profile test (you will get a lot of help from experienced people here with interpretation). You order the kit directly from directlabs.com (I think that is the name) and they will have instructions on how to collect and how much to collect. http://www.doctorsdata.com/test_info.asp?id=1 http://www.directlabs.com/Default.aspx I do not know about testing old hair. You can certainly contact DDI and ask them. Pam > > Dear all: > > I'm preparing to send in our first hair elements test. Guest guest
I think it might have been Moria's website: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/Andy_dose_sched.html There really is no need to test birth hair other than for your own curiosity. It is not diagnostically useful now. Would be interesting to know what metals your child may have been born with, but you need to know what they have now. The hair tests will tell you nothing about pesticide exposures though. Chelation will not remove that either. There is other testing done to find pesticides and other protocols for removing that from the body you can look into later. As for parents doing protocols..I have been doing AC protocol for four years for myself and both my children for heavy metals. I now run a group for parents also doing this. I have one NT child and one ASD spectrum child who is on the road to recovery. We have all experienced great gains in health and function. My son is working his way off the spectrum with chelation. Our story: http://www.freewebs.com/mercurybabies/ And agreed..you can't treat yourself until breastfeeding is done. But you can treat the child. Hair tests should not be done while you are still nursing or pregnant. They do not come out accurately. Andy describes this in his book Amalgam Illness. I'd wait until you are done nursing to test your own hair. But usually...if the child is toxic, the parents also carry some toxicity. Maybe not as much, but some. If you have metal dental fillings or had vaccines while pregnant....you have mercury and thus your child also does. food sensitivities: you may need a food allergy panel and then you will know what kind of diet he can eat. But it sounds like you have a good idea what he can't have. Often the sensitivities are from leaky gut. I agree breastfeeding is better for as long as is feasible for now. Have you tried probiotics as a first step to helping his gut? Digestive enzymes might help. You won't know until you try it. Aloe juice might help too. What you're doing with the juicers is great. Hope this helps! Best Wishes Jan > > Dear all: > > I'm preparing to send in our first hair elements test.
