Guest guest
Hello, You really don't need another hair test and you definitely don't need another challenge test. Lead would not be eliminated with only 5 rounds, so I would keep both DMSA and ALA if you have access to both. I started with 1/4 mg per lb for the dose of both DMSA/ALA. A multimineral would be a good addition for chelating, with perhaps extra zinc thrown in since multis tend to have little zinc. Also, CoQ10, L-carnitine, Bcomplex, and anti-oxidants like C and E can be good for low tone. Your son's reaction to chelation is not surprising, based on the dose/frequency in a DAN! protocol. I am sorry. My guess is you will not see this with AC protocol. You might need to get some yeast fighter on board, with grapefruit seed extract or something else. Good luck to you. Pam > > After 5 rounds of DAN protocol with 400mg DMSA every 8 hours for my 11 year old son, 110 lbs, I stopped and took two months off to educate myself by reading this board and just ordered Andy's books. Guest guest
You are in the right place now. Those negatives you saw were the result of a dangerous protocol that just slammed more metals around your boy's body and into his brain. What's done is done, so don't beat yourself up. No need to do a hair test, you know he is toxic. He reacted to the chelators. No more challenges again, ever. Very dangerous. He is not lead free after 5 rounds, however high the dose. Start with dmsa alone probably, do the 1/8 - 1/2 mg per lb of body weight. That is the guidelines of the AC protocol. Some here do ALA from the start. With my son, I did dmsa alone for about 8 rounds, to lower his body burden. Then we added ALA in. If you are very toxic, ALA is hard on the body. In my son's case he could only tolerate very small doses of ALA for a long time. Then after a while he could tolerate much more (in keeping with AC guidelines) Buy Andy's book Amalgam Illness for specifics of the protocol and supps etc. Some essential supplements, are antioxidants like vitamins E and C, zinc, liver support (eg milk thistle), perhaps a multi mineral supplement, a good antifungal, a good high count probiotic. Others here will chime in. The things you are giving so far are good to keep on board. Guest guest
- No need to do a hair test. That is only to find out if he is toxic. - We use DMSA and ALA, they work together if you child can tolerate both. - The starting dose is usually around 1/8mg per pound for both ALA and DMSA and you can work up from there. There is also some practicality to consider as far splitting up capsules. Don't know his weight. - Make sure you give lots of Vitamin C and E when chelating because it causes oxidative stress. Magnesium helps with comfort. The behavior you describe could be from the re-distribution from the high infrequent doses or aslo from yeast, probably both. You will need a yeast protocol like Grapefruit Seed Extract and Biotin as well as probiotics. Guest guest
Pam, Irene and TJ- Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with me! I love being part of this group, and it helps so much in terms of not feeling you are all alone in this fight. I am struggling with where to buy all what is recommended. Where can I buy a good high count probiotics? Kirkman sells the lowest dose of ALA, but did not find DMSA on their site, On vrp.com is R(Lipoc Acid 50mg) the ALA? They have 25mg DMSA so I will buy it from them. What is the starting dose for GSE, biotin, and milk thistle, where can I buy those online? Do most people buy their supplements from multiple sources. Is there a good place where I can buy what I am looking for and with high quality. Sorry for all these questions, I am new into this and I do feel very overwhelmed. Thank you, thank you! > > - No need to do a hair test. Guest guest
We use both. If its a chewable supplement, we prefer New Beginnings because they dont sweeten thier stuff with Splenda. Splenda reduces the effectiveness of probiotics. We also dont use Super NuThera Multi-Vitamin from Kirkmans. It makes our son way too hyper. Other than that, we've generally had good experiences using both. Karla > > > > - No need to do a hair test. Guest guest
I like vitacost for biotin and milk thistle, vit C. Milk thistle by nutraceutical is 600 mg, nice strength I think for my 130 lb guy and me. A vit C at 1000 mg, nice! I bought the wrong strength last time but think you can get a nice high biotin. Don't get the R-ALA. Go with Kirkman. Sign up with with Kirkman and like this month, get $25 off a $100 order. That's when I order. My guy with severe food allergies, does great on their stuff. Yeap, vrp for DMSA. Getbigger.com for enzymedica enzymes, free shipping if over a certain amount. Guest guest
>>During the chelation he started to wet his bed again, humming with a loud voice, stemming, hyper, executive functioning got worse, confused. Those were yeast symptoms for my son http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm >>He also has low muscle tone. Carnitine helped my son with this issue. Guest guest
Here's what works for us. Kirkman Cod Liver Oil Soft Gels (does have soy). Kid is much happier taking the gels as opposed to the liquid. Melatonin-only chewable we use. Sweetened with sorbitol. Mito Cell Support. Only thing that eliminated ammonia smelling BMs. Multi Mineral Support. Worked well, but when we switched from SNT to Syndion SF, we dropped it as Syndion is Multi-Vitamin/Mineral Supp. CoQ10, DMAE, and Sacc B. New Beginnings Calcium Citrate w/Magnesium Chewable and Vitamin C Chewable. Acetyl Carnitine. The other supplements are a mix. Alot of NOW Brand and Puritans. Enzymes are a mix of Houston (Trienza and No Fenol) and Enzymedica Virastop and Candidase. Lots and Lots of Probiotics from multiple sources. Karla > > > > > > - No need to do a hair test. Guest guest
Mito Cell Support is from Kirkmans. The directions are to give 2 in the morning and two in the evening (with or without meals). We give 1 capsule twice a day. Karla > > > > > > > > - No need to do a hair test.
