This is probably quite individual.

If you are getting some gains then maybe continue until these stop,

although I would not wait too long before adding ALA as this is the most

important chelator regards chelating metals from internal organs particularly

the brain.

should proceed next. Should I increase the DMSA to a certain amount before I add

ALA? Should I wait a while before I start ALA? I have not seen any adverse

effects since we started. I have read that some people use just ALA, some

started DMSA and ALA together, and some use DMSA at first and then add

ALA...just trying to figure out what would be best for my daughter.

I was wondering this same thing...

We have just completed 2nd round with 1/3mg per pound of DMSA and there is a bit

of moodiness and increase in stimming, though tolerable.

My understanding is that DMSA is stressful on liver whereas ALA supports liver

so I'd like to add ALA in but unsure if too soon due to behavioural changes?

Would adding ALA with 1:1 ratio to DMSA (and gradually increasing dosage as

tolerated) be ok?

BTW, supporting supplements are being taken.

Any comments appreciated.

No need to wait to add ALA unless there has been recent exposure or recent

amalgam removal. Most people dose ALA at the same level as the DMSA. For

example, if you are giving 12.5mg DMSA, then you would give 12.5mg ALA. You

would then switch to every three hours between doses, day and night, due to the

half-life of ALA being three hours.
