Should mom give son tetanus?

I'm sending this question out for a friend of mine...her computer is down and is

looking for other mom's to chime in with their opinions.

My friend's son fell and hit his head on a rock and needed 2 stiches on his

forehead. The fall took place in their back yard. While at the hospital the ER

nurse strongly advised the mom to have her son get the tetnus vaccination even

after mom declined the nurse lectured her. She is also getting some pressure

from family members to get the shot. Mom is now confused about doing the right

thing by her son.
