Guest guest
Hello group, Our PDD-NOS daughter is 11. We decided to give the patch a try and started on Thanksgiving day. We've seen small improvements in behavior, though no fireworks or Eureka! moments. She is slightly more compliant and doesn't seem to be as resistant to tasks. Every now and then we'll get an appropriate and rather interesting question, for example a week ago she asked me " what does perhaps mean? " This was a rare gem. It hasn't touched her OCD tendencies and her anxiety is still quite high. However, small improvements are nonetheless improvements, so we have decided to continue using it. I hasten to say that our daughter is a very tough case and does not respond favorably to most interventions- your kid/s might respond better or more quickly. I will caution that you have to supplement with quite a lot of calcium. Also, omega fatty acids are contraindicated, so no fish oil. Finally, your kid needs to eat at least one serving of meat (meat protein) daily. I would suggest emailing the pharmacy and telling them what your kid is currently taking. You might need to make some adjustments. In my opinion, it is worth at least a trial of a few months. Feel free to email me off list if you like. Guest guest
Thanks for posting. We are going to do a trial with my younger son who is a little more severe than my older son. We are thinking it will be easier to see results on a more severe child. Our boys are pretty good responders. They responded well to the GFCF diet and are responding well to chelation. Hopefully they will respond well to this. My hope is that it will make the next two years or more of chelation a little more bearable for them and us. Guest guest
We started using the patch last week. We noticed some increased energy and some increase in speech. There is some increase in stimming. He likes to hold his hands in front of himself and look at them. The biggest issue is compliance. He is still very flexible at just under 4 years old and can reach every part of his body, even in the middle of his upper back. He has some sensory issues and doesn't like the way it feels on his skin. Similar to a band-aid. I think we'll keep trying. Guest guest
Our rx should be here soon. I am very excited about trying this. Our son is also a tough case and reacts adversely to most treatments and VERY chemically sensitive. Our DAN said a side effect is hyperactivity, which I am not looking forward to (as he already has alot of that) but told us to start with 1/2 a patch for a few days. Anyone else been told that? Glad to hear others are seeing some positive results!! Jill > > We started using the patch last week. Guest guest
We are using a 1/2 because of the stimming. Seems to be enough. Wish there was another way to administer besides a patch.
