Igenex seems to be the most reliable. http://www.igenex.com/lymeset2.htm

Both BorreliaMultipleInfectionsAndAutism/

and adult group Lyme_Rife/have info re

Lyme.

you/your child had it? Was it through the typical Lyme titres, or is there a

more sensitive test? Also, what are you using to treat it? Is it long-term

antibioitics?

Our DAN recommended Dr. of Pacific Frontier Medical in Redwood

City, CA. We live near there so it was convenient for us. Dr.

specializes in Lyme disease. He ran the Igenex test which showed a few positive

bands that could be an indication of Lyme but the test itself was not positive

for Lyme. However, since Lyme can be tricky to find (it hides deep in the

tissue) he did another test with an antibiotic challenge. This was to check his

urine for the DNA of the spirochetes (Lyme bugs)that died off during the

challenge. That test came out positive. I did the Igenex test on myself and was

positive for Lyme. My son and I are being treated with long term antibiotics.

I've upped the probiotics to 3X/day to prevent further gut problems.

I've heard the testing/results can be confusing. Just curious, how long is

long-term for the antibiotics?

The urine/DNA tests are unreliable. False positives _and_ false negs:

There are other testing options:

For a NT person who has symptoms of Lyme the antibiotic treatment is usually

until the symptoms subside. But since we're talking about autism here, you may

not see any obvious change. The protocol in that case may be 6 months. I am by

no means an expert on Lyme. Just letting you know what our doctor has

prescribed.

I agree with the post by Ross earlier that the tests can show false

positives and false negatives. You need to do plenty of research and work with a

doctor that really understands it.
